Yale Repertory Theatre continues its 50th Anniversary Season with a new production of ASSASSINS, featuring a book by John Weidman, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and directed by James Bundy, running now through April 8. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the show below!

Berkshire Theatre Group announces the final production of its upcoming 2017 Summer Season will be Mark Medoff's Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Award-winning play, Children of a Lesser God, which will begin performances on Thursday, June 22 at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage. Opening night is set for Saturday, June 24 at 8pm.

City Center has just announced that this year's Encores! Off-Center season will include staged concert revivals of Assassins, The Bubbly Black Girls Sheds Her Chameleon Skin, and Really Roise. 

Two of Broadway's newest stars come straight from the West End, where they've been navigating the twisting, frenzied SUNSET BOULEVARD, which opened earlier this month at the Palace Theatre. Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault today announced the Ford's Theatre 2017-2018 season will include Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman directed by Stephen Rayne; the American premiere of Jefferson's Garden by Timberlake Wertenbaker and directed by Nataki Garrett; the fantastical musical The Wiz directed by Kent Gash; and A Christmas Carol with Craig Wallace reprising the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

Studio Tenn and Tennessee Performing Arts Center's joint venture to produce Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita in Nashville resulted in the production claiming the top prize as "Outstanding Musical of The Year" at Sunday's Midwinter's First Night event at The Larry Keeton Theatre. Nashville Repertory Theatre's production of Nate Eppler's original play Good Monsters took the title of "Outstanding Play of The Year" in the annual ceremony that dates back to its origins in 1989.

Traverse Theatre Announces Spring/Summer 2017 Programme

The Traverse announces its Spring/Summer 2017 season today, December 12. The work presented has been selected to directly address a mix of both long-existent and emergent social, political and technological challenges, and comes from some of the most exciting companies in the UK.

Holiday shows can be pretty cliche -- someone learns the true meaning of Christmas and then everyone breaks into song. Now, don't get me wrong, I look forward to watching Mickey's Christmas Carol and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon version) every year. But during a time when new societal fault lines seem to open up every day, we need a different story.
