Avon Players will aim its spotlights squarely at some of the darker corners of American history as they present Stephen Sondheim's bold musical examination of the murderous mindset, Assassins, running September 9-24.

 In the midst of a contentious election year, many of us are weighing our options to determine which select few get the privilege to lead our country.  The decisions we make now will impact our country into the future just like decisions made in past have shaped our complex, modern culture today. 

BETTER OFF SINGLE, a new comedy starring Aaron Tveit, will hit theaters and On Demand on October 7th.

?Princeton Summer Theater's 2016 season opens this Thursday, June 16th with Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins.  Assassins is an explosive tale of the American Dream gone awry. A multiple Tony Award-winning musical, Assassins combines Sondheim's brilliant lyricism and rich music in a revue-style tale addressing our nation's culture of celebrity and the violent means taken to obtain it. Clever, original, dark, and surprisingly funny, Assassins is perhaps Sondheim's most controversial musical.  

On Monday, June 27, 2016, MTAP--Musical Theatre Artists of Pittsburgh launches Hot Metal Musicals Incubator with Dear Boy, book and lyrics by Jeanne Drennan and music by David Berlin, to be presented as a reading at 7:00pm at the Pittsburgh CLO's Charles Gray Auditorium, 130 CLO Academy Way in downtown Pittsburgh.

Aaron Tveit stopped by last night's LATE SHOW to talk about his new sci-fi CBS series BRAINDEAD, and revealed his own fear of alien abduction. Later, the GREASE LIVE star tells Stephen what it's like preparing to present at the Tonys.

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston will bring the bright lights of 1920's New York City to the stage with the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Thoroughly Modern Mille from July 7-17, 2016.  Millie will run for eight performances at the Robinson Theatre (617 Lexington St. Waltham, MA, 02452).  Directed by Broadway veteran Cynthia Thole (Me and My Girl), Millie will star Gabrielle Carrubba (American Idol Season 11, Spring Awakening) as Millie Dillmount, a small-town girl who arrives in New York City to lead a thoroughly modern life. Millie will also feature Maryann Zschau (Nunsense National Tour) reprising her IRNE Award-winning role as Mrs. Meers (Reagle Music Theater 2006) and IRNE nominee Mark Linehan (Shrek The Musical, South Pacific) as Trevor Graydon.  This lavish musical is filled with fabulous flappers, eccentric New Yorkers and soaring musical numbers including "Forget About the Boy" and "Only In New York."

?Princeton Summer Theater's 2016 season opens Thursday, June 16th with Stephen Sondheim's Assassins. The season continues with Yasmina Reza's black comedy God of Carnage, Tom Stoppard's tragicomedy Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, and Sam Shepard's drama Fool For Love.

Stephen Sondheim's Assassins - his musical treatment of the history of presidential assassinations in America - remains one of the most compelling and intriguing works to be found in the musical theater canon, focusing on a veritable rogue's gallery of historic figures whose infamy lives on decades after their horrific actions first gained them the notoriety they so often pursued in their disparate, yet somehow weirdly connected, lives.

Ars Nova, New York's incubator for boundary-pushing theater, is pleased to announce the line-up for its 9th Annual ANT Fest, which features new work from 42 trail-blazing artists over a four-week festival, June 6-30. This celebration of new, independent live entertainment is a prime destination for an eclectic mix of brand new shows from some of the most intrepid, adventurous artists in New York City.

From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, writers Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.

On May 6th, 2016, Civic Theatre will open ASSASSINS, which will be produced in Civic's historic 19th Street Theatre and will run through Sunday, May 22nd.
