BWW Review: SNS Puts a Unique Stamp on Sondheim's ASSASSINS
by Paul Batterson - Jun 3, 2018

There's enormous pressure in reviewing the Short North Stage's most recent production, ASSASSINS. Imagine looking out onto the stage where John Wilkes Booth brandishes a pistol at the audience only a few feet away while the balladeer (Patrick Beasley) sings, 'Some say it was your voice had gone, some say it was the booze. Some say you killed a country, John, because of bad reviews' in the song 'The Ballad of Booth.'

William Peace Theatre Takes Aim With ASSASSINS
by A.A. Cristi - Mar 15, 2018

Perhaps it is coincidental that the collaboration between Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman has grown in popularity since its 1990 Off-Broadway debut as the rise of mass shootings in America has increased its grip on the American psyche.  Whether one has anything to do with the other matters little. BWW Review: Everyone Deserves the Chance to See Theater 2020's ASSASSINS
by Kristen Morale - Feb 28, 2018

The extraordinary is turned ordinary when the need to be heard, to believe in the right of happiness, overcomes what reason dictates one should do to achieve it; reason becomes as much of an ally as it is a weapon. What is so beautiful about Sondheim's Assassins is not only how the root of such an evil deed is understood as something so human, but this 'American Musical Comedy' is nothing short of brilliant - especially when presented by Brooklyn Heights' own Theater 2020.
