Winifred Haun & Dancers to Present PROMISE at Historic Pleasant Home, 10/17-18

Winifred Haun & Dancers will re-stage their highly acclaimed full length ballet, "Promise," on October 17 & 18  at Historic Pleasant Home in Oak Park, IL.  The dance will be re-made especially for the beautiful spaces in and around Pleasant Home, representing a true collaboration between a space and a dance.

Amphibian Stage Productions to Present Broadway Recording OF MICE AND MEN, Starring James Franco and Chris O'Dowd

Amphibian Stage Productions (Kathleen Culebro, Artistic Director) will show a film of the Broadway production of Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Franco and Chris O'Dowd, on Wednesday, September 23 at 2pm and 7pm in partnership with the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Mary Beth Fisher to Join Tom Irwin in Steppenwolf's DOMESTICATED

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced today the complete cast for the Chicago premiere of Domesticated, a provocative dark comedy written and directed by ensemble member and Pulitzer Prize-winner Bruce Norris. The cast features ensemble member Tom Irwin and venerable Chicago actress Mary Beth Fisher as a political couple in the midst of a sex scandal. Irwin has been an ensemble member since 1979, having performed in more than 50 Steppenwolf productions including The Grapes of Wrath and The Seafarer. Fisher, a frequent performer at Goodman Theatre, most recently in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, last performed at Steppenwolf in Dead Man's Cell Phone in 2008. Completing the Domesticated cast are Emily Chang, Esteban Andres Cruz, Meighan Gerachis, Rae Gray, Beth Lacke, Millie Langford, Melanie Neilan, Meg Thalken and Karen Woditsch. Domesticated runs December 3, 2015 - February 7, 2016 in the Downstairs Theatre. Tickets to Domesticated ($20 - $89) go on sale Friday, October 2, 2015 through Audience Services (1650 N. Greenway Arts Alliance to Stage Five World Premieres in 2015-16

Greenway Arts Alliance has announced a season of five world premieres kicking off September 25 with BREATHE by Javon Johnson which will run concurrently with BREATHING ROOM by Mary Lou Newmark (beginning October 3). FRONT DOOR OPEN by Tom Baum follows in November, and 2016 will begin with SWARM CELL by Gabriel Rivas Gomez, opening in January. The season will conclude with SIX LETTERS IN HARLEM by Crescent McGlone, opening in July.

Arizona Theatre, Stray Cat to Present New Comedy SEX WITH STRANGERS This Fall

Arizona Theatre Company, in a special collaboration with Stray Cat Theatre, will present Laura Eason's new comedy about the calculations people are making to find love or fame in an age of social media, brightly-lit phone screens and blogging. SEX WITH STRANGERS plays Sept. 24-Oct. 11 in Stage West at the Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe.

Michael McDermott to Perform at The Loft at Union County Performing Arts Center, 9/19

The Gift Theatre Sets 2016 Season

During last night's Season Release Bash at Fischman Liquors and Tavern, artistic director and co-founder Michael Patrick Thornton proudly announced The Gift Theatre's 2016 season will include: Shakespeare's Richard III to be presented in Steppenwolf's Garage Theatre starring Thornton as the villainous Richard; John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, adapted by Frank Galati; and Melissa Ross' world premiere of A Life Extra Ordinary.

Starting fittingly on July Fourth weekend, Museum of the Moving Image will present The Essential John Ford, a tribute to the consummate American filmmaker. Ford made his reputation on westerns, but worked in many genres, creating films of depth, beauty, and ambiguity. From today, July 3 through August 2, the Museum will present 20 movies directed by Ford-all on film, with some restored archival prints-including his masterpieces Young Mr. Lincoln, My Darling Clementine, The Searchers, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.
