May is a busy month for theater on Northwestern University's Evanston campus, and there is something for every audience imaginable: Old, young and in between.

John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men opened on Saturday night at the White Theatre inside the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Bill Christie directs one of the finest productions of the tragic play produced in the Kansas City area. John Steinbeck's books and plays, though classics, are not for everyone, but the production at the White Theatre is of such a high quality it should not be missed.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announces the full cast for the Chicago premiere production of Grand Concourse, a play full of both humor and heart by Heidi Schreck. Directed by ensemble member Yasen Peyankov, the cast features ensemble members Francis Guinan and Tim Hopper sharing the role of Frog and Mariann Mayberry as Shelley with Brittany Uomoleale as Emma and Victor Almanzar as Oscar.

Principal photography commenced today in Georgia on James Franco's “In Dubious Battle” as a quintet of actors have signed on to join Franco, Selena Gomez, Vincent D'Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston, Nat Wolff, John Savage and Sam Shepherd in the much anticipated production from Andrea Iervolino and Lady Monika Bacardi's AMBI Pictures, Rabbit Bandini Productions and That's Hollywood Pictures Production.

Midway through its first season producing on two stages, Park Square Theatre shows no sign of slowing down with its 2015-2016 theatre season. In addition to a range of area and regional premieres, the company is commissioning two brand new works - one for each stage - from Joel Sass (Great Expectations) and Christina Ham and Regina Marie Williams (Nina Simone: Four Women). FISH IN THE DARK, the new comedy written by and starring Larry David, is running for an 18-week limited engagement through Sunday, June 7 at the Cort Theatre. Opening night is tonight, March 5. The comedy, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, also stars Rita Wilson, Rosie Perez, Jayne Houdyshell,Ben Shenkman and Lewis J. Stadlen, heading a cast of 18.

The best of live theatre can now be experienced on the big screen of The Ware Center. The theatrical productions Of Mice and Men on Broadway and London's Treasure Island kick off the partnership with the National Theatre's groundbreaking project National Theatre Live, which films and broadcasts live stage productions in filmic quality and detail. The only place in Lancaster County showing these productions is Steinman Hall at The Ware Center, located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster. More films will be added in the Spring.
