THE CURIOUS CASE OF PHINEAS GAGE Begins 8/15 as Part of FringeNYC
By: Tyler Peterson
Split Knuckle Theatre presents THE CURIOUS CASE OF PHINEAS GAGE, a physical theater piece created by Jason Bohon, Greg Webster, Andrew Grusetskie, Michael Toomey, and John Egan, directed by Vincent Cardinal, in collaboration with writer Nick Ryan, featuring music composed by Andrew Lynch. Performances are Aug 15-22, 2015.
THE CURIOUS CASE OF PHINEAS GAGE is inspired by the life and times of Phineas Gage, one of the most famous cases of traumatic brain injury in all of neuroscience. In this hysterical journey reminiscent of Monty Python, a trio of 19th century conspiracy theorists follows young Phineas' exploits in PT Barnum's freakshow as he discovers the secret history of psychic aliens on Earth. A thrill packed evening that just might change your life...forever. Split Knuckle is a critically acclaimed company that creates dynamic, physical, visually striking theatre from simple materials. Through imagination, text, and movement, they create vast landscapes, vivid characters, and epic stories. The company members trained at the London International School of Performing Arts in the methods of Jacques Lecoq. Split Knuckle Theatre has performed at the Long Wharf Theatre, Shakespeare & Company, the Connecticut Repertory Theatre, Texas A&M University, Ars Nova's ANT FEST, and The Tank Theatre in NYC, as well as in Brussels, Bucharest, Buenos Aires, Maastricht, London, Paris, Athens, Frankfurt, and Bangkok. The company made its successful debut with an adaptation of John Steinbeck's The Pearl at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in a production that The Scotsman gave 5 stars, calling it "an elegant, humorous and tremendously moving drama." Their hit international show, Endurance, about the expedition of Sir Ernest Shackleton, was awarded the Connecticut Critics Circle award for an outstanding production at the Long Wharf Theatre.
