Hollywood Bowl Kicks Off 2013 Classical Season with Concert Led by Michael Tilson Thomas Tonight

The Los Angeles Philharmonic's classical season at the Hollywood Bowl opens with celebrated conductor Michael Tilson Thomas leading the orchestra in Mahler's Second Symphony ('Resurrection') with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and soprano Kiera Duffy and mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, tonight, July 9, at 8 pm. Tilson Thomas continues the opening week of the Bowl classical season, leading one of the world's greatest violinists, Gil Shaham, in Sibelius' Violin Concerto, Thursday, July 11, at 8 pm.

the cell, A Twenty First Century Salon, Founding Artistic Director Nancy Manocherian, and Artistic Director Kira Simring, have announced the extension of the world premiere production of PETER/WENDY adapted and directed by Jeremy Bloom from J.M. Barrie's 'Peter Pan and Wendy' and 'The Little White Bird' and scored by the indie band, The Books. PETER/WENDY has been playing a limited engagement at the cell (338 W. 23rd St NYC). Performances began Thursday, May 30 and will now continue through Saturday, June 29.

John McLaughlin Kicks Off 2013 'Now Here This' US Tour in Durham Tonight

World-renowned guitarist John McLaughlin, announces his first U.S. tour in three years, set for this June. The tour will begin tonight, June 11th in Durham, NC and will hit Asheville, DC, Bethlehem, Boston and a 3-night stand in New York City at the Blue Note before ending in Toronto on June 23rd. McLaughlin and his legendary 4th Dimension band will also make a special appearance at this year's Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee on June 14th.

The International Beethoven Project Presents Christopher O'Riley, 5/13

The International Beethoven Project presents renowned pianist Christopher O'Riley in Chicago one night only on Monday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Merit School of Music's Joy Faith Knapp Music Center, 38 S. Peoria St. in the West Loop. Popularly known for his groundbreaking transcriptions of Radiohead, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake and other rock musicians, O'Riley returns to Chicago with a very different repertoire: virtuosic selections from his new album of iconic Franz Liszt transcriptions, O'Riley's Liszt. O'Riley delves into the works of that master interpreter, adding his own touches and insight to the music of Mozart, Wagner, Berlioz, Schubert and Schumann. Tobin Center for the Performing Arts Names Michael Fresher as President/CEO

Michael J. Fresher has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts (www.tobincenter.org), which is owned and will be operated by the Bexar County Performing Arts Center Foundation. He will assume his new position in San Antonio on May 21. Foundation Chairman J. Bruce Bugg Jr. made the announcement.

Dana Carvey Comes to Easton, 5/2

Dana Carvey is best known for his Saturday Night Live characters the Church Lady; Hans, of the Hans and Franz body building duo; Garth, Wayne Campbell's (Mike Myers) "Excellent Co-Host" on the immensely popular sketch "Wayne's World," and Weekend Updates Grumpy Old Man. In addition to these characters, Dana has received widespread praise for his uncanny comedic impersonations of such political figures as Ex- President George Bush, H. Ross Perot, Jerry Brown, David Duke and Bob Dole.

The Pit Stop Players to Present SNAPSHOTS III Concert, 2/11

2012 TONY AWARDS Among Writers Guild of America Nominations

The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in television, news, radio, promotional writing, and graphic animation during the 2012 season. The winners will be honored at the 2013 Writers Guild Awards on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.

Urban Stages WINTER RHYTHMS 2012 Begins Tonight
