The Second Annual United Solo, the world's largest solo theatre festival, opens on October 20, 2011 at Theatre ROW on 42nd Street in Manhattan.

On Sunday, October 16, 2011, an expected 30,000 walkers and dozens of celebrities and elected officials will gather in West Hollywood Park for the 27th annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles, the largest event of its kind, benefiting AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) and more than 20 other Los Angeles County AIDS service organizations. This past June marked 30 years since HIV was first identified - a discovery that took place in Los Angeles.

Full casting has been announced for the upcoming national tour of THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a new musical based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams. THE ADDAMS FAMILY is scheduled to open the Adrienne Arsht Center's Broadway in Miami 2011-2012 season, with performances from October 25-30, 2011. Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway premiere of VENUS IN FUR, the acclaimed new play by David Ives, directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie starts rehearsals today.

The 2011 National Book Awardsfinalists have just been announced. The Winners in Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Young People's Literature will be announced at the 62nd National Book Awards Benefit Dinner and Ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Wednesday, November 16. Actor, writer, and musician John Lithgow will host the event. Poet John Ashbery will receive the National Book Foundation's Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, to be presented by poet Ann Lauterbach. Mitchell Kaplan, co-founder of the Miami Book Fair International, will receive the Foundation's Literarian Award for Outstanding Contribution to the American Literary Community, to be presented by writer Walter Mosley.

The Zephyr Theatre has announced the world premiere production of Moses Supposes, a new comedy by Ellen Melaver, starring Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Karen Black, along with David Proval (The Sopranos, The Shawshank Redemption), and directed by Lee Sankowich. The cast will also feature Elijah Kranski and Sarah Sankowich.

Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway premiere of VENUS IN FUR, the acclaimed new play by David Ives, directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie stars Tony nominee Nina Arianda reprising her acclaimed breakthrough performance and Emmy Award nominee Hugh Dancy (Journey's End, 'The Big C'). VENUS IN FUR will begin previews on Thursday, October 13 and open Tuesday, November 8 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). The production will play a limited 10 week engagement with tickets on sale through Sunday, December 18 only.
