Eddie Carbone is a hardworking Italian-American longshoreman living in a lower working class neighbourhood of Brooklyn with his wife Beatrice and orphaned niece Catherine. They lead a simple but happy life until Beatrice's exotic Sicilian cousins arrive one night and turn their world upside down. Loves and loyalties are tested as the new arrivals settle in leading to a catastrophic climax. Was it inevitable or did Eddie have the power to alter 'the bloody course'?
