The LA Times is reporting the breaking news that 'Center Theatre Group announced Tuesday that it would import the production now on Broadway that originated in May at Washington's Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Michael Ritchie, CTG's artistic director, said "we are currently in discussions" to lure members of the Broadway cast led by Bernadette Peters, Elaine Page, Jan Maxwell, Jayne Houdyshell and Danny Burstein. "Follies" is scheduled to close on Broadway Jan. 22 after a four-month run.'

The Playwrights Realm, under the leadership of Artistic Director Katherine Kovner and Producing Director Stephanie Ybarra, has selected early career playwrights Ethan Lipton, Mia Chung, Nastaran Ahmadi and JC Lee for its 2011-2012 Playwriting Fellowships.

Shen Wei Dance Arts celebrates its 10th Anniversary Season from November 29 - December 4, 2011 at Park Avenue Armory with the World Premiere of Shen Wei's Undivided Divided, an ambitious site-specific work commissioned by the Armory, where the company has been Artists-in-Residence for the past sixteen months. The Shakespeare Theatre Company has announced that Academy Honorary Award® winner James Earl Jones will join Artistic Director Michael Kahn for the third installment of the Classic Conversations series to be held at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St. NW) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 8 p.m.

The Dance to Learn program at Ordway Center for the Performing Arts takes the stage in its fourth year with a unique cross-site performance and reflection event happening today in the Ordway's McKnight Theatre, where new original work will be presented to children from a handful of schools by local choreographers Karla Nweje and Leah Nelson.

PS Classics, the label dedicated to the heritage of Broadway and American popular song, will release the new two-disc set Broadway cast album of the Kennedy Center's acclaimed revival of FOLLIES on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. On Thursday, December 1st, Stephen Sondheim, Bernadette Peters, Jan Maxwell, Danny Burstein, Ron Raines, Elaine Paige and other members of the cast of FOLLIES will sign copies of the album at Barnes & Noble (150 E. 86th St; between Lexington & 3rd Ave.) beginning promptly at 4:00 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. The album is produced by Tommy Krasker.

On Tuesday, November 29, Carnegie Hall will present the New York premiere of a new Quintet by Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, a composer whose music is among the most-performed of that of any of her American colleagues, and who was the first person named to the Carnegie Hall Composer's Chair in 1995.
