The Scottsdale Cultural Council has appointed Neale Perl as its new president and CEO. A senior executive with more than 25 years of experience in arts administration and presenting, Perl is the president emeritus of D.C.-based Washington Performing Arts, where he served as president and CEO from 2002 to 2013. He will begin his new position on Aug. 11, succeeding Scottsdale Cultural Council Interim President and CEO Richard Hayslip, who will continue to serve the organization as a member of its board of trustees.
The 22nd annual New American Playwrights Project (NAPP) takes the stage at the Utah Shakespeare Festival from August 8 through August 29. Three plays will be presented as staged readings in the Auditorium Theatre at 10 a.m. on selected dates. The National Gallery of Art's Little Dancer Aged Fourteen (1878–1881) takes center stage in Degas's Little Dancer, a focus exhibition on view from October 5, 2014 through January 11, 2015. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' world-premiere musical Little Dancer, which runs from October 25, 2014 through November 30, 2014.
