Celebrate Mother's Day against the grain with a triple-feature of maternal-themed horror movies on the big screen at Museum of the Moving Image. On Sunday, May 10, as part of Horror Mother's Day, the Museum will show Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, starring Anthony Perkins as the ultimate momma's boy; Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby, with Mia Farrow as an Upper West Side mother-to-be caught up in a sinister cult; and David Cronenberg's The Brood (in a new 35mm print), a terrifying psychological thriller driven by a mother's rage.

Film Independent, the nonprofit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards, Los Angeles Film Festival and Film Independent at LACMA, handed out top honors to Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Boyhood, Whiplash and Nightcrawler at this afternoon's 30th Film Independent Spirit Awards.

According to People, Oprah Winfrey, Kristen Wiig, Zach Galifianakis, Ethan Hawke (among the nominees this year) and previous winner Jared Leto are among the presenters for the 2015 Film Independent Spirit Awards, to be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 in Santa Monica. The Brick launches its first education program in 2014 with BRICK U. A dedicated workshop setting with expert teachers, the program offers unique, low-cost training in crucial arts-related skills unavailable in large universities. AUTHOR'S NOTE: One of the most iconic Broadway leading ladies in theatrical history, in honor of her passing earlier today at the age of 89, let us revisit this career-spanning InDepth InterView with the one and only Elaine Stritch.
