History Announces 15 New Original Series And 10 Specials For 2010-11

HISTORY(TM), which finished 2009 as one of the top 10 networks in adults 25-54 in all of cable television, and currently ranks the number one non-fiction network 2010 to date, today announced it will add 15 new original series and 10 tent pole specials to its roster. The announcement was made by Nancy Dubuc, President and General Manager for HISTORY. The network is increasing its investment in programming as it commits to moving into the top 5 in key demos during the 2010-11 season.

NY Philharmonic Hosts Historic 15,000th Concert 5/5

The New York Philharmonic, the oldest symphony orchestra in the United States and one of the oldest in the world, will perform its 15,000 concert - a milestone unmatched by any other symphony orchestra in the world - on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. at Avery Fisher Hall. An estimated 46,835,718 people have heard the Philharmonic live, in person, since its inception in 1842; 1,590 musicians have served as members of the Orchestra over the years.

REDCAT Celebrates The Late Betty Freeman 5/5

In January of 2009, the new music world lost one of its greatest champions. The late philanthropist, photographer and writer Betty Freeman was without question the most significant American advocate for contemporary classical music in the second half of the 20th century. In her will, Ms. Freeman requested that no funeral be held, but instead a party be thrown in her memory. REDCAT is delighted to honor Ms. Freeman's request with Party for Betty!, a celebration of the life, work and legacy of Betty Freeman held at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 8:30 pm.

Anderson, Sills, Crampton & Goldyn to Lead Paper Mill PETER PAN

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Artistic Director, Mark W. Jones-Executive Director) is proud to announce casting for Peter Pan. Directed by Mark S. Hoebee with choreography by Patti Colombo, Peter Pan will run at the Millburn Theater from June 2 through June 27, 2010. Peter Pan is generously supported by a gift from Allen and Joan Bildner and supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Credit Suisse Renews Sponsorship with New York Philharmonic, 5/4

Credit Suisse, a leading financial services provider, and the New York Philharmonic, America's oldest symphony orchestra, today, May 4, announced that Credit Suisse has renewed its Global Sponsorship of the Orchestra for three years. The partnership, which began in the 2007-08 season, has enhanced the global brand presence of Credit Suisse, and represented the Bank's first signature cultural sponsorship in the United States, involving all events in New York, across the United States, and around the world. The collaboration unites two longstanding institutions that share historic commitments to excellence and creativity. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Crossroads Theatre Company End Run of THE LAST FALL, 5/2

The Last Fall is a poignant love story that follows two fifty-somethings as they mature in life and love while facing difficult truths. The audience follows Rhea, an urban school teacher, and Neville, a Trinidad-born taxi driver, as they struggle with the challenges before them. The production will end its run May 2nd.

CMSD Students Present FAME at PlayhouseSquare 6/4-6

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) will present its eleventh annual All-City Musical, FAME The Musical to crown the District's 2009-10 series of All-City Arts Programming. The production features the talents of over fifty CMSD students from across the District and will take place on the stage of the Ohio Theatre at PlayhouseSquare, June 4 - 6, 2010.

New York Philharmonic Plays Copland, Haydn, et. al. For Memorial Day Concert 5/31

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in his first free Memorial Day Concert, Monday, May 31, 2010, at 8:00 p.m., at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street. This will be the 19th annual free Memorial Day Concert offered by the New York Philharmonic, a tradition begun in 1992 as a gift to the people of New York City. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Music will also be piped out onto the adjacent Pulpit Green, weather permitting.

Katie Holmes to Play Jackie Kennedy in New History Channel Miniseries

According to published reports, former All My Sons star Katie Holmes will play Jacqueline Kennedy in a new television miniseries, 'The Kennedys' for the History Channel. The eight-hour miniseries - the first for the History Channel - will also star Greg Kinnear as John F. Kennedy. The series is written by Steve Kronish and directed by Jon Cassar, who collaborated on '24.' An air time is set for 2011.

Alban Berg's modernist masterpiece Lulu returns to the Met, starring Marlis Petersen as the scandalous femme fatale and conducted by the Met's newly appointed Principal Guest Conductor Fabio Luisi.

Darius de Haas and Sam Davis At Next NEW VOICES Concert 4/26

The sixth season of the acclaimed Monday Nights, New Voices series continues April 26th at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre. Rent's Darius de Haas will host an evening of new Voices, featuring the talents of Sarah Aili, Sarah Corey, Drew Pournelle, Stuart Matthew Price and Tricia Tanguy. Show time is 7 PM.

Crossroads Theatre Company Announces Dollar Days for THE LAST FALL 4/29-5/2

The Crossroad Theatre Company has announced the Dollar Days program for their current production of THE LAST FALL from April 29th through may 2nd. The deal allows those with the code DDAYS to, on the purchase of one ticket at full price, purchase a second ticket for $1. The deal is valid for all productions April 29th to May 2nd.

LA TRAVIATA Returns Starring Angela Gheorghiu, Closes 4/24

Verdi's La Traviata returns to the Met with Angela Gheorghiu reprising her acclaimed interpretation of Violetta, a role the New York Times called a 'supercharged star turn' when she performed it in 2006.
