Opening Friday, May 22 (preview Thursday, May 21) at 8:00 p.m. and performing through Sunday, June 6 at the 78th Street Theatre LAB, The Secretaries, originally written and performed by the award-winning New York theatre troupe The Five Lesbian Brothers, irreverently and unapologetically explores the ever-expanding human fascination with sex and violence, the journey from self-improvement to self-destruction and the question of what it means to be ?strong? women in a modern world. If Russ Mayer and John Carpenter were characters on ?The L Word,? had a baby and moved to Stepford, perhaps that child would dream up The Secretaries.

In Shakespeare's masterful story, Pericles, Prince of Tyre, suffers agonizing losses, endures personal betrayals, and faces a tsunami-like wave of spirit-numbing catastrophes in a quest that also includes moments of celebration, festivity, observance, remembrance and unparalleled joy. Pericles' tempest-tossed odyssey raises profound questions about why suffering and grave, undeserved misfortunes befall our lives, and offers hope through courage and redemption.
