In honor of Les Miserables' opening tonight, BroadwayWord brings you the actors who've taken on the many complex and vocally challenging roles of Victor Hugo's world, from the unscrupulous Thenardiers to innocent Cosette, or principled Javert against the compassionate and strong-willed Jean Valjean. From Fantine and Eponine, unfortunate in life and romance, to Enjolras and Marius, the fiery young leaders of the French Revolution.
Making it on Broadway's 2013 prestigious guest teachers include, but are not limited to, Laura Osnes (Tony Nominee for 'Cinderella'), Frank Wildhorn (Composer of 'Jekyll and Hyde', 'Scarlet Pimpernel', 'Bonnie and Clyde', 'Wonderland'), Pasek and Paul (Tony Nominated Composers of 'A Christmas Story'), Anthony Rapp ('Rent'), and Lindsay Mendez (Star of 'Dogfight' and currently playing Elphaba in 'Wicked'). The week long intensive begins today.
When 18-year old Orange High School senior Miles Sternfeld began preparing for his senior project, he knew exactly what he wanted to do: bring Broadway to Cleveland. And that's exactly what he's done. With the help of mentor, Sean Szaller (who also serves as the production's musical director), Sternfeld set out to produce a one-night only benefit performance of 'The Who's Tommy' which, coincidentally, was the first full blown musical he was in as a child. Miles was also very clear that he wanted all proceeds from this production to benefit Broadway Cares - and Joe Norton at BC/EFA was happy to jump on board to offer his support.
