Village Halloween Ball at Theater for the New City Set for Halloween Night

Canadian Stage opens the 2014.15 season with the Toronto premiere of Kiss & Cry, a critic and audience favourite from Belgium created by choreographer Michele Anne De Mey and filmmaker Jaco Van Dormael (Camera d'Or, Cannes Film Festival). For five performances only at the Bluma Appel Theatre (27 Front St. E.), from today, Oct. 1 to 5, this interdisciplinary performance combines live cinematography, digital technology and dance into a stunning, innovative experience.

Southern Rep Now Accepting Submissions for 2015 Ruby Prize

Southern Rep has announced that it will accept submissions for The Ruby Prize, effective immediately. The $10,000 annual award is named in honor of Ruby Bridges, who showed incredible perseverance in the face of formidable obstacles. The Ruby Prize seeks to support women playwrights of color whose work expands the reach of American theatre in the face of formidable obstacles.

Canadian Stage Presents Helen Lawrence, Oct. 12 to Nov. 2

After opening in Vancouver in March 2014, and setting off on an international tour with stops in Germany and Scotland, Helen Lawrence lands at Canadian Stage with performances at the Bluma Appel Theatre (27 Front St. E), Oct. 12 to Nov. 2. The theatrical debut for world-renowned visual artist Stan Douglas and award-winning screenwriter Chris Haddock, Helen Lawrence is produced by Canadian Stage with co-producers Arts Club Theatre Company (Vancouver) and The Banff Centre (Alberta). Set in 1948 Vancouver, this ground-breaking work intertwines theatre, visual art and film and mixed-media, to create a production at the frontier of new media use in performance.

FPAC to Present PETER PAN, Begin. 10/17

Broadway's timeless family musical Peter Pan will launch FPAC's 24th season and premiere year in THE BLACK BOX, the company's new home and performance venue in downtown Franklin. FPAC's production of this soaring, magical adventure will be presented October 17-19 and 24-26 with live professional orchestra and the spectacular aerial effects of Flying By Foy. Audiences are invited to journey along with Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the Darling children on a swashbuckling fantasy adventure to Neverland.

KING CHARLES III Extends Through 31 January 2015 at Wyndham's Theatre

Due to overwhelming demand, the producers of Mike Bartlett's critically acclaimed new play, King Charles III have announced that the show's run will extend by 9 weeks, and will now play at the Wyndham's Theatre until 31 January 2015. Tickets for the extension go on sale today.

Arena Stage Announces Winners For OUR WAR Monologue Contest; Reading Set for 11/6

In June, Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announced a national call for three-minute monologues held in conjunction with the world premiere of Our War, a dynamic new theatrical event and collection of short stories by 25 esteemed playwrights that explores--through diverse perspectives--the historical memory and present-day reverberations of the U.S. Civil War. The open monologue contest inspired by Our War brought in more than 150 entries from around the world, and the theater is pleased to announce the three winning monologues: Tree by Dave Lankford of New York, NY; Mary/Marcus by Sarah Pitard of London, UK; and The Peacock's War by Lisa Sillaway of Wichita, KS.
