Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall returns to Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater with the world premiere of her most personal project to date-the fierce comedy-drama The Blood Quilt. Hall is an inaugural resident playwright of Arena Stage's American Voices New Play Institute, and The Blood Quilt is one of three plays from Hall receiving world premieres around the country this season. Hall reunites with director and Howard University alumna Kamilah Forbes (artistic director of the Hip-Hop Theater Festival) following their Broadway collaboration on The Mountaintop. The Bijou Theatre presents a Snooty Garland's Springtime Opus starring the incomparable Lady Liz! Snooty returns to the stage tonight, March 21st at 7pm. Tickets are $20 for theatre seats and $25 for table seats.

Canadian Stage presents Nongogo, The Meal, Hatched, Ubu and the Truth Commission, Dominion and Chandelier in a three-week festival of South African performance as part of Spotlight South Africa. Beatrice Dimaculangan, a junior from Jonathan Dayton High School, was named State Champion at the 2015 NJ Poetry Out Loud State Finals competition, part of the national poetry recitation program. The state finals took place Friday at the Richardson Auditorium in Princeton University's Alexander Hall and kicked-off the International Princeton Poetry Festival. Ms. Dimaculangan will move on to represent New Jersey at the national finals in Washington, DC in April to compete against 52 champions from every state and territory--all vying for the national title and the chance to win prizes including college scholarships.
