The Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre was certainly abuzz last night for the opening night of Sleepless - the first fully staged musical to take place in the UK since the beginning of lockdown.

Sue Simmerling, owner of costume design company Carry on Costumes, is doing her bit to help the NHS in its battle against COVID-19. Sue was contacted by fellow designer Dulcie Scott, who started the crowdfunding group 'Helping Dress Medics'. The group's aim is to purchase fabrics that are then made into scrubs for the NHS medics dealing with the virus in hospitals.

SLEEPLESS, A Musical Romance, based on the original screenplay Sleepless in Seattle, will premiere in London on 31 March 2020 at the newly opened Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, London. Tickets will be on sale at 10.00am on Tuesday 10 December.

Joining the previously announced Jay McGuiness, Wendi Peters, Kimberley Walsh and Matthew Kelly as Josh Baskin, Mrs Baskin, Susan Lawrence and George MacMillan respectively in BIG The Musical, will be Lori Haley Fox as Mrs KopeckiMiss Watson and Edward Handoll as Paul Seymour, with Harrison Dadswell, Jamie O'Connor and Jake Simon sharing the role of Young Josh and Jobe Hart, Austen Phelan and Theo Wilkinson sharing the role of Billy.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's Matilda The Musical has announced new casting with Hayden Tee playing Miss Trunchbull alongside Rob Compton and Holly Dale Spencer as Mr and Mrs Wormwood. Gina Beck will continue to play Miss Honey, having joined the company in September 2017. Isobel Hubble and Francesca McKeown will join Sarah Munday and Olivia Wells in sharing the title role of Matilda. Today, the Royal Shakespeare Company announces the child casting for the first five venues of the Matilda The Musical 2018/19 UK and Ireland Tour. The title role will be shared by Annalise Bradbury, Lara Cohen, Poppy Jones and Nicola Turner.
