Boston Court Receives NEA Art Works Grant

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that The Theatre @ Boston Court is one of 895 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Boston Court is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support the first phase of a multifaceted new play development program.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts Receives NEA Challenge America Fast-Track Grant

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Senior Deputy Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts is one of 150 not-for-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Challenge America Fast-Track grant. Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support their April 27, 2014 presentation of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra's A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company Receives NEA's 2013 'Our Town' Grant

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced 59 Our Town grant awards totaling $4.725 million and reaching 34 states in the Our Town program's third year of funding. Commonwealth Shakespeare Company is the only Boston-based organization to receive a $100,000 matching grant to fund 'Shakespeare OFF the Common,' an innovative three-part arts program created in collaboration with the Mayor's Office of Arts, Tourism and Special Events to foster community interaction.

Earlier today, President Barack Obama presented the National Medal of Arts in conjunction with the National Humanities Medals. The medals were presented by the President during an East Room ceremony at the White House. The National Medal of Arts is a White House initiative managed by the National Endowment for the Arts. Each year, the NEA organizes and oversees the National Medal of Arts nomination process and notifies the artists of their selection to receive a medal, the nation's highest honor for artistic excellence.

This is the first NEA grant to globalFEST and will support 11th edition of the organization's annual flagship festival in New York City in January, 2014.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced last week that the Atlanta Shakespeare Company is one of 817 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. The resident company of the New American Shakespeare Tavern in Atlanta is recommended for a $30,000 grant to support their Total Access Shakespeare residency programming with local public schools.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that Park Square Theatre is one of 817 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Park Square is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support the Theatre Ambassadors program.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that CAP21 is one of 817 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. CAP21 is recommended for a $15,000 grant to support The CAP21 New Artist and New Works Residencies.

Lawrence Edelson, Founder and Producing Artistic Director of American Lyric Theater (ALT), announced today that the company has been selected by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to receive a $35,000 Art Works grant to support its Composer Librettist Development Program (CLDP), the only full-time professional mentorship initiative for emerging operatic writers in the country.

Hubbard Street Dance's 'Movement as Partnership' Program Receives NEA Art Works Grant

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that Hubbard Street Dance Chicago is one of 817 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Hubbard Street is recommended for a $70,000 grant to support Movement as Partnership (MAP), a research-driven residency program focused on long-term school partnerships, supported by extensive professional development. Hubbard Street's MAP partner public schools are located in Chicago and Oak Park, Illinois.

American Theatre Wing Honored with NEA Grant to Support SpringboardNYC

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that the American Theatre Wing is one of 817 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. The American Theatre Wing is recommended for a $20,000 grant to support SpringboardNYC, its summer boot camp that helps student actors make the transition from college to career, and Theatre Intern Group, a professional development group for young adults beginning careers in theatre administration and management.

85 Theatres in 33 States Have Joined Blue Star Theatres to Aid Military Families

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, and Blue Star Families, a national non-profit for military families, has announced that 85 theatres in 33 states have now joined the Blue Star Theatres program. In partnership between TCG and Blue Star Families, with support from MetLife Foundation, the Blue Star Theatres program connects a variety of theatre offerings to military personnel and their families across the United States. This initiative recognizes the profound contributions of service families and seeks to build stronger connections between theatres, military families and their communities.

Trinity Rep Receives NEA Grant

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced November 28, 2012 that Trinity Repertory Company is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Trinity Rep was awarded a $25,000 grant to support the world premiere of award-winning playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury's Social Creatures in March/April 2013 as part of their 2012-2013 mainstage season.
