The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents Side Show that runs in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater from June 14 to July 13, 2014. Side Show features book and lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Henry Krieger, and is directed by Academy Award winner Bill Condon. Sam Davis will serve as musical director and arranger and will conduct the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. The Kennedy Center production of Side Show is produced in association with La Jolla Playhouse. Just last night, the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre were handed out at the Tony Honors Cocktail Party, a private cocktail reception at the Paramount Hotel's Diamond Horseshoe. The Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre were established in 1990 and are awarded annually to institutions, individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in theatre, but are not eligible in any of the established Tony Award categories. This year's Tony Honors will be presented to Joe Benincasa (President & CEO of The Actors Fund), Joan Marcus (Broadway photographer), and Charlotte Wilcox (general manager). The Tony-nominated new Broadway play Mothers and Sons has announced that the production has partnered with the 30/30 Project and Construction for Change. Julie Lewis, 30-year HIV Survivor and mother to Grammy-winner Ryan Lewis, founded the 30/30 Project, which seeks to bring healthcare facilities to communities impacted by HIV/AIDS, as well as offering comprehensive healthcare.

Atlantic Records will release the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the most nominated musical revival of the season, featuring Tony Award nominees Neil Patrick Harris and Lena Hall. The album is produced by HEDWIG composer Stephen Trask, Tony Award nominated sound designer and platinum-selling record producer Tim O'Heir, and the production's music director Justin Craig. Disney Theatrical Productions, Broadway Across America, and CAPA today announced that tickets for the long-awaited return engagement of Disney's The Lion King will go on sale to the public on Thursday, June 26, at 10am. Columbus' most eagerly awaited return will once again leap onto the Ohio Theatre stage on Tuesday, October 14, for a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, November 9, 2014. The show's six-week premiere engagement in 2004 played a sold-out run at the Ohio Theatre.
