Hal David, Chairman/CEO of the Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF), today announced that Maxyne Lang will receive the Abe Olman Publisher Award to be presented at the 2009 Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards 40th Anniversary gala, slated for Thursday, June 18th, at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel.

The induction and awards dinner is scheduled for Thursday, June 18 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Special award honorees will be announced at a later date.

A single figure appears at the back of the stage. A single voice begins to sing a Barry Manilow classic - exquisitely, soon to be joined by the other members of BBC's Last Choir Standing winners 'Only Men Aloud' and suddenly 'One Voice' explodes into an huge wall of sound as stunning vocals advance upon the ears of the audience. Tony Award nominated actress (for Mamma Mia) Louise Pitre has been cast to play Rose in the concert production of Gypsy at the Talk Is Free Theater in Barrie, Ontario. The new season at TIFT will begin on October 22 with the premiere of A Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich and Ivan Nikiforovich Had a Fight, followed by the concert production of Gypsy from November 25 and 26th. Next up is Assassins at the Downtown Theater Jan 21-30.

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto recently announced that the theatre will present a special one-night engagement of Stephen Schwartz and Friends.. This delightful event, featuring the Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer/lyricist of the smash Broadway musicals Wicked, Godspell, Working, Pippin and many others, will be performed in the Old Globe Theatre on Monday, March 9 at 7:30pm. Schwartz will be center-stage for an evening of unforgettable music and memories, with some of Broadway's best singer/actors, including, Debbie Gravitte, Liz Callaway and Scott Coulter, performing Schwartz's most beloved songs.

As part of the Arena Presents series, Maureen McGovern comes to Arena Stage with A Long and Winding Road, an entertaining and introspective theatrical concert based on her recent album of the same name. Co-conceived and written by McGovern and director Philip Himberg, with musical direction by Jeffrey D. Harris and production design by Clifton Taylor, A Long and Winding Road is a tribute to the early works of Jimmy Webb, Carole King, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Randy Newman, Paul McCartney and other ground-breaking singer/songwriters from the 1960s and ?70s.
