For Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, June begins with one of the most celebrated singer-songwriters in recent history, Christopher Cross, followed by a Reggae Meets Jazz series with Monty Alexander Harlem Kingston Express, contemporary jazz instrumentalist group Acoustic Alchemy and Grammy Award-winning vocalist Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton. June also brings a host of local talent including Adagio, Willie K, Paula Fuga, Darren Benitez, Hotclub of Hulaville, Rolando Sanchez, Little Albert and Jake Shimabukuro. Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, is honored to shine the spotlight on local, Hawaii-based artists this spring with upcoming shows featuring award-winning artists such as Kalapana, Robert Cazimero, Willie K, and The Rough Riders. Expanding its commitment to showcase local artists and stars of the Hawaii music industry, Blue Note Hawaii begins a series of one-night only performances featuring Ginai on April 11, Natalie Ai Kamauu on April 18, the incomparable Willie K on April 19, trumpeter Mike Lewis on May 2 and Hiroshima-known for their unique East Meets West contemporary jazz sound-from April 26 to May 1.

Dan Hicks--widely acknowledged as one of the defining figures in American roots music--passed away today (2/6/16) at age 74 after a two-year battle with cancer at his home in Mill Valley, CA.

Producers Frank Marshall, Mindy Rich, Anita Waxman, and Beth Williams announced today that the new musical featuring the songs of legendary singer-songwriter-author Jimmy Buffett, with an original story by co-book writers Greg Garcia and Mike O'Malley, will have its world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, California. Directed by Tony Award® nominee and Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley, the strictly limited engagement will kick off the Playhouse's 2017/2018 season, with performances beginning on May 16, 2017, an official opening night of May 28, and will play through June 25, 2017. Tony Award nominee Christopher Ashley will direct the production, which will open on May 16, 2017.
