by Rich Mehrenberg

This Andrew Lloyd Webber rock opera is a fine example of the type of full-scale show that this new area is designed to highlight. A cast of close to forty performers and a nine-piece orchestra fit comfortably within its generous proscenium
BWW Review: EXCURSION FARE is a Dark, Fun Ride at Carrollwood Players Theatre
by Deborah Bostock-Kelley
- May 5, 2019
In a train depot beautifully created and dressed by Chelsie Camaro Smith and props by Shirley Overton, not a detail is missed - from the ornate corners on the ticket booth to the weathered wood and grey concrete interior to the vintage magazines, telephones and stored luggage. Heather Cleveland's costumes add to the feel that the place looks like something that time passed over.
And perhaps it has. This way station for the hesitant houses souls unable to make the transition from life to the afterlife, whichever direction the train may go.

Imagine a meeting of the minds between Albert Einstein, Marilyn Monroe, Senator Joe McCarthy, and Joe DiMaggio in a New York hotel room in the 1950s. Using these archetypes as a jumping off point, playwright Terry Johnson shows that celebrity, sex, death, and politics are all intertwined. Hilarious and heartbreaking, Insignificance shows us that everything is in fact relative.

BWW Previews: NINE AND NUMB BRINGS IMPROV UNFILTERED to Dreamhouse Theater
by Deborah Bostock-Kelley
- Jan 14, 2018
Interested in being liberated from political-correctness, having a bawdy good time surrounded by likeminded adults? If dropping your filter and saying what's on your mind is your cup of tea, you have to see the improv troupe, Nine and Numb and their After Hours show at Dreamhouse Theater. Though they also do a regular family-friendly rendition, I prefer seeing what's really on the minds of the audience as they are the ones that dictate the direction of the show - going as far as supplying the scenario and keywords that the actors have to turn into a skit. I was happy to see that Dreamhouse Theatre tested an adults-only version of the often standing-room-only improv show.
