There are a lot of hammers and nails at work in DSI Comedy Theater's new home. Beginning today, May 1, DSI Comedy Theater will be running classes and shows in its new space at 462 W. Franklin Street. DSI Comedy Theater staff and local contractors have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on the new space. The new space will kick off with a stellar weekend of performances welcoming New York City based musical sketch comedy sensations, Pop Roulette, Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3 at 8:30 p.m.

Still the biggest comedy festival in the South, the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival is going through some changes. The festival is running for 10 straight days this year and while it will feature some of the best rising stand-up, sketch, and improv comedy across the nation, this year the festival will delve into the community in ways it never has previously.

The 3rd Annual Houston Improv Festival (HIF) descends upon Houston April 24-27, 2014 at Midtown Art Center (3414 La Branch). HIF 2014 will host fifteen improvised acts from around the country, with show on Thursday, April 24, at 8pm and on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 at 8pm and 10pm.

The Magnet Theater presents The Fourth Annual New York Musical Improv Festival from October 4-7. Over 100 performers from as far as Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oklahoma City, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Washington DC and as close as Broadway, NYC will converge on the Magnet Theater stage to create fully improvised musical performances - ranging from traditional musical theatre fare to adrenaline-pumping rap battles.

Minnesota resident Jill Bernard is a treasure in the world of improv. She is a noted performer, instructor and author. Recently, her company, HUGE Improv Theater in Minneapolis held a fundraiser and one auction prize was a chance to perform with Bernard. The winner was DSI Comedy Theater Company Member Kit Fitzsimmons. This hilarious show will run Saturday, September 22 at 9 p.m. All shows take place at DSI Comedy Theater, 200 N. The annual ImprovBoston Beanpot Tournament has grown this year. For the first time ever, ImprovBoston is presenting the College Comedy Festival. Built upon the success of past Beanpot Tournaments, this year's tournament has expanded into a college comedy festival. The festival runs from Thursday, February 23 to Saturday, February 25. The festival takes place at ImprovBoston, 40 Prospect Street, Cambridge. Tickets cost $12-$16 and are available online at www.improvboston.com.

This year, those acts will gather in the Triangle for three weeks of comedy throughout Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Durham. This annual event runs February 1-19, 2012 and features stand-up, sketch, and improv acts in seven venues across the region. Tickets and a full schedule will be available at www.nccomedyarts.com.

Once again, the Philadelphia Comedy Collective is hosting Philadelphia Comedy Month. This October, there will be three weeks of comedy which kicks off with the seventh annual Philadelphia Improv Festival tonight through October 9 at the Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre, 2111 Sansom Street, 2nd Floor.
