'Life and Acting' Book Launches at The Drama Book Shop, 3/18, 20-21

Jack Garfein, theater-film director and acting teacher, has written a book, LIFE and ACTING: Techniques for the Actor (Northwestern University Press). Mr. Garfein is one of the last living links to the Golden Age of The Actors Studio. Required reading for anyone interested in theatre, the book is being launched with a signing at The Drama Book Shop this Friday, March 18th, 5:30-7:00 pm.

Lucy Cohu (Julia), Diana Hardcastle (Edna), Ian McElhinney (Harry), Imelda Staunton (Claire) and Tim Pigott-Smith (Tobias) will join the previously announced Penelope Wilton (Agnes) in Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance, directed by James Macdonald which will run at the Almeida Theatre from 5 May - 2 July, with press night on 12 May 2011. A Delicate Balance will be designed by Laura Hopkins with lighting by Guy Hoare and sound by Ian Dickinson.

Legendary Actress Frances SternhagenTo Be Featured In Horovitz Play and Public Interview

Celebrated actress and two-time Tony Award-winner Frances Sternhagen will be joining the confluence of artists and audiences for Florida Stage's 5th Annual 1st Stage New Works Festival. Ms. Sternhagen will be featured in a staged reading of legendary playwright Israel Horovitz' new play Beverley on Saturday, February 5, 2011. On Friday, February 4, in place of the Festival's usual Keynote speech, Ms. Sternhagen will take part in what is being called 'A Conversation with Frances Sternhagen.' Florida Stage Producing Director Louis Tyrrell will conduct a public interview with Sternhagen on stage in the Persson Hall at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. The Florida Stage 1st Stage New Works Festival takes place February 3-6, 2011. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 'Monday Nights with Oscar' will close the year with a screening of 'Driving Miss Daisy' (1989), on Monday, December 13, at 7 p.m. at the Academy Theater at Lighthouse International in New York City. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Alfred Uhry, who received an Adapted Screenplay Oscar for 'Driving Miss Daisy,' will join the film's director, two-time Academy Award nominee Bruce Beresford, in an onstage discussion about the original play's journey from Off-Broadway hit to Best Picture-winning film. The play's current revival marks its Broadway debut.
