Jessica Lang Dance, the company founded by award-winning choreographer Jessica Lang, will perform a return engagement on the Eccles Center Stage, Friday, January 13 at 7:30 PM. 

Opera is for everyone-and so is Seattle Opera's 2017/18 season! There's a new bilingual performance for elementary-school students, new performance venues such as Georgetown Steam Plant, a new mainstage collaboration with ACT Theatre and Seattle Symphony leaders, and even an outdoor performance offered free of charge. Regardless of background or socioeconomic status, this season offers ways for a broad audience to be able to experience opera; it's an open invitation for the Pacific Northwest. 

Park City Institute continues its rich tradition of engaging in dialogue on important issues, presenting a panel on Criminal Justice Reform, with Van Jones, January 7 at 7:30 PM. Jones, an attorney who has spent countless hours on CNN as a political commentator, will share his insights on the ways in which the criminal justice system is ineffective and the role it plays in the cycle of inequality in this country. 

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2016/2017 season with Beth Henley's brilliantly imaginative tale of relationships, Crimes of the Heart. Three hard-luck sisters reunite in their small, pitiless Mississippi hometown, each nursing her own grudge. In a hurricane of hilarity and hurt, Lenny is turning 30, Meg is fresh from rehab, and Babe is out on bail. The boundaries of sisterhood are put to the test as each sibling comes to terms with her dreams gone awry. The New York Timessaid Crimes of the Heart "overflows with infectious high spirits." This Pulitzer Prize and NY Drama Critics Circle Award-winning play will be directed by Giovanna Sardelli. Crimes of the Heart will have performances January 11 - February 5, 2017 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St, Mountain View. On Saturday, January 14, 2017, the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) will host its largest annual fundraiser, the Backyard Ball performance and gala, as the culmination of the organization's signature program, National YoungArts Week, from January 8 - 15.

When the Cleveland Ballet left this area for San Jose, California, in 2000, it is rumored that the organization was over one-million dollars in debt. Lots of fingers were pointed as to why the deficit existed, but one thing is for sure, there will always be, it the minds of those who saw it, one lasting legacy of Dennis Nahat and his reign as the company's Artistic Director. From its 1979 debut, when it sold out every night of its two-week run, until its escape to the west coast, Nahat's THE NUTCRACKER reigned supreme.

Cincinnati Ballet has been invited to present seven performances of The Nutcracker at the famed John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., November 23 through 27, with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky's sensational holiday score.

Cincinnati Ballet marks its full company debut at the Kennedy Center with Victoria Morgan's charming production of The Nutcracker, November 23-27 for seven performances in the Opera House. A cherished holiday tradition that has become an annual Cincinnati-area favorite, this production features elaborate scenic design by John Ezell, whimsical stage effects with lighting by Trad A Burns, vibrant costumes by Carrie Robbins, awe-inspiring acrobatics, and entrancing choreography by Artistic Director and CEO Victoria Morgan. Morgan, who is celebrating her 20th season with the company, is also one of very few female Artistic Directors in the ballet world. Following tradition, dozens of local children from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area will join the company on stage, while the Arlington Children's Chorus lend their voices to the dazzling snow scene. The Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra will accompany this production, led by conductor and Cincinnati Ballet Music Director Carmon DeLeone.  

 Patrons of the Park City Institute now have the option to enjoy packages of three shows at a discounted price. "We're very excited to offer a new way to explore our programming," says PCI Executive Director Teri Orr. "These three-show packages offer patrons two performances in a genre, and their choice of a third show, for free." The offer is a PCI "holiday treat," and is valid until December 25th only.

HB Studio, one of New York's most venerable institutions for theater training and practice, is shaking things up this year for their annual benefit. This year HB Studio is bringing attention back to its roots, and back to the process of making great theater. Instead of one big benefit bash honoring esteemed alumni and colleagues (such as Fritz Weaver, Austin Pendleton, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, Eric Bentley and David Hyde Pierce, Amanda Peet and Lee Grant, Tony Walton and Katie Finneran, Alfred Molina), HB will be hosting a series of intimate benefit performances featuring notable HB alumni and friends, exclusively produced in the HB Playwrights Theater. First up for the exciting 2016-17 season is:

Juilliard Dance, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, presents New Dances: Edition 2016 featuring four world-premiere dances by choreographers John Heginbotham (First-Year Dancers), Katarzyna Skarpetowska, (Second-Year Dancers), Pam Tanowitz (Third-Year Dancers), and Matthew Neenan (Fourth-Year Dancers).  Heginbotham and Skarpetowska are Juilliard alums, and Tanowitz and Neenan are returning as New Dances choreographers. 

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance is pleased to announce the new details of the first commission by inaugural Choreographer in Residence, Brian Brooks; Terrain, for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago will see its world premiere as part of Hubbard Street's Season 39 Fall Series, November 17-20, 2016.

A near sold-out audience rose as one following the BODYTRAFFIC dance concert at the Ohio Theatre. They had witnessed a variety of creative, well-executed, serendipitous dance numbers.
