The Bushwick Starr collaborates with All For One Theater in presenting The Brobot Johnson Experience, an Afrofuturism transmedia piece written by and starring award-winning solo performer, actor, and poet, Darian Dauchan, who has appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and abroad. The recently coined 'Afrofuturism' genre is referred to by The New York Times as '...a political and cultural genre that projects black space voyagers, warriors and their heroic like into a fantasy landscape, one that has long been the province of their mostly white counterparts.'

The Bushwick Starr is thrilled to announce our 2017-18 Season of Programming. We kick things off with a new show by Larissa Velez-Jackson (Yackez, Star Crap Method), which will bring Bushwick community seniors into direct artistic collaboration with one of NYC's most exciting dance artists.

Aimee Todoroff and Tonya Pinkins direct. The evening of one-act works include Trifles by Susan Glaspell (1916), Exit: An Illusion by Marita Bonner (1929), and The People by Susan Glaspell (1918). Performances will be staged at the Gloria Maddox Theatre, 151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 from February 15-March 5, 2017.

SUMMER SHORTS 2015 began at 59E59 Theaters, produced by Throughline Artists (J.J. Kandel, Producing Director), on July 17 and continues through August 29. The Public Theater will begin previews for the world premiere production of Richard Nelson's new play SORRY on Tuesday, October 30. SORRY, play three of The Apple Family Plays, takes place over a meal during the day the country will choose the next president - Election Day. The cast features Jon DeVries, Maryann Plunkett, Laila Robins, Jay O. Sanders, and J. Smith-Cameron.
