GLAAD Clarifies Work With TOOTSIE And MRS. DOUBTFIRE

Following multiple media reports of GLAAD working with the producers of the new Mrs. Doubtfire musical in Seattle, the organization has clarified their involvement with the production - as well as the current Broadway musical Tootsie - which is set to wrap up it's run in January.

Analisa Leaming has been traveling the country the past year with 'ribbons down her back' as Irene Malloy in the national tour of HELLO, DOLLY! Before taking HELLO, DOLLY! on the road, Leaming understudied the role in the recent Broadway revival and celebrated 600 shows with the classic musical a few weeks ago. In addition to Dolly, you may have seen her on Broadway as Anna in Lincoln Center's revival of The King and I, Rosalie Mullins in School of Rock, or Anita in On the Twentieth Century.

Following a week of sold out previews, The 5th Avenue Theatre has announce that the world premiere production of Mrs. Doubtfire has been extended through January 4, 2020 by overwhelming demand. Mrs. Doubtfire, which officially opens Friday, December 13, 2019, will play an additional week past the original December 29, 2019 closing date. BWW Review: A BRONX TALE National Tour

Audiences might be familiar with the 1993 film, a?oeA Bronx Tale,a?? which was directed by and starred Robert De Niro. It's the tale of a young man growing up in the Bronx in the 1960s who is torn between his father and the Mafia boss who takes him under his wing. The film also featured its writer, Chazz Palminteri, and was based on his one-man play of the same name. The musical A BRONX TALE was adapted by Palminteri from that play over the course of a decade and opened on Broadway in 2016. It is this production that is at DPAC this week, as a stop on its second national tour.

Produced by multi-Tony Award winner Kevin McCollum (Avenue Q, Rent, In The Heights, Something Rotten!), Mrs. Doubtfire is based on Twentieth Century Fox Motion Picture. Mrs. Doubtfire will begin previews on Monday, March 9, 2020 and open on Sunday, April 5 at Broadway's Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St).
