Lily Rabe, Richard Thomas to Announce Outer Critics Circle Nominations, 4/23

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, today announced that Multi Award-winning stars Lily Rabe and Richard Thomas will announce the nominees for the 2011-12 season on Monday, April 23rd (11AM) at The Friars Club (57 East 55th Street- between Park and Madison Avenues).

Legendary film director Peter Bogdanovich attended FREUD'S LAST SESSION at New World Stages this past Saturday, April 7th to see George Morfogen and Jim Stanek, who recently joined the production as Sigmund Freud and C. S. Lewis respectively. FREUD'S LAST SESSION is the winner of the 2011 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Play and additional productions are already set to open into 2013 in major markets across the nation and around the world. FREUD'S LAST SESSION will feature Love, Sex, the Meaning of Life and the Existence of God, a special talkback discussion with Dr. Timothy Larsen, McManis Professor of Christian Thought at Wheaton College, and Dr. Christopher Nissen, Professor of Italian and advisor to the Atheists, Agnostics, and Free Thinkers group at Northern Illinois University, on Sunday, April 1 following the 1 p.m. performance at the Mercury Theater (3745 N. Southport) in Chicago.

Fred Weintraub, The Bitter End Founder, to Visit NYC to Promote Memoir, 3/29 - 4/5

Fred Weintraub, an 85-year-old Bronx native, who has spent more than 50 years in the entertainment business, is coming to NYC March 29 - April 5, to promote his new memoir, 'Bruce Lee, Woodstock and Me.' The founder of the Greenwich Village nightclub The Bitter End (which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year), began his adventurous life in the Fort Apache section of The Bronx, after which it took him to Greenwich Village and the founding of the world famous Bitter End, where he launched the careers of such famous entertainers as Woody Allen, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, Joan Rivers, Billy Crystal, Bill Cosby, Judy Collins, Peter, Paul and Mary, Dustin Hoffman, Carly Simon, David Amram, and Neil Diamond, among others, and then out West to Hollywood where he discovered Bruce Lee and produced 'Enter The Dragon,' and then produced the original Woodstock movie and 40 more films with stars such as Steve McQueen, George C. Scott, Robert Duvall. Karen Dunst and dozens of others.

FREUD'S LAST SESSION, the play by Mark St. Germain now in its second successful year in New York, is coming "for a session" at the Mercury Theater (3745 N. Southport, Chicago), making its Midwest Premiere previewing March 21, opening March 28 with tickets on sale through June 3.

Jonathan Groff, Megan Hilty, et al. to Perform in MCC's MISCAST Gala Tonight!

MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey and William Cantler, Artistic Directors; Blake West, Executive Director) will tonight present the company's highly anticipated annual gala. Complimenting the glittering, previously announced Miscast will be Josh Gad ("Modern Family," The Book of Mormon), Norm Lewis (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess), Jan Maxwell (Follies, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Rory O'Malley (The Book of Mormon), Constantine Maroulis ("American Idol," Rock of Ages), and Nicole Parker ("Mad TV," a Miscast favorite returning for her 4th time). The event will be held Monday, March 26, 2012 at The Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street).

FREUD’S LAST SESSION Opens Tonight in Seattle

New York's hit play FREUD'S LAST SESSION is set to open tonight, March 23rd at Seattle's Taproot Theatre for a limited engagement through April 21st. This marks the West Coast debut of Mark St. Germain's long-running play. Under the direction of Producing Artistic Director Scott Nolte, the Seattle production of FREUD'S LAST SESSION stars Nolan Palmer as Sigmund Freud and Matt Shimkus as C. S. Lewis.
