It takes one to know one and radio Legend Dick Robinson, a hero to all who love the Great American Songbook presented  another legend, Steve Tyrell, a true icon of the music world with the prestigious Legends Award at the Essey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College last night. It was Legends Radio's 4th Birthday Celebration and radio hosts Jill & Rich Switzer, Walt Pinto, Lorna O'Connell, and Mike McGann were also heard 'live' in the Essey Theatre, which was filled with listeners of Legends 100.3FM. 

According to an Equity casting notice, Smokey Joe's Cafe might be heading back to New York City. Historic Maine theatre Ogunquit Playhouse will feature the revue this May-June, and afterwards, the production will get an off Broadway run at Stage 42.

But for decades - especially from the mid 1950's to the mid 1960's - Leiber and Stoller were one of America's most successful songwriting teams. Stage Door Theatre will honor this iconic duo when they present Smokey Joe's Caf - The Songs of Leiber and Stoller, a compendium of some of their greatest hits, in the popular Margate venue's intimate Theatre 2 from December 15th through January 14th. Meanwhile, you can cast your eyes toward today's photogenic cover models, the lovely and talented Cooper and his human, Nashville actress/designer Ashley Wolfe - both of them are pretty swell, in our estimation (even deserving of a Tony Award), and while we worry about them taking selfies while driving and while catching up on the theatrical news every morning, we are assured they were at a full stop when this photo was snapped. In fact, according to the human member of the duo she hadn't yet turned her key to the on position.

They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway -they say there's always magic in the air… And soon, there will surely be some of that Broadway magic gracing the Flat Rock Playhouse Mainstage, "mountain-style", with the return of the State Theatre's 2007 hit, Smokey Joe's Cafe!
