Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) presents Gilbert & Sullivan's comic operetta THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, directed by Broadway veteran Terrence Mann, starring Sean Martin Hingston as the Pirate King, Steven Hayes as the Major-General and Connecticut native Diane Phelan as Mabel.

Southwark Playhouse presents a major revival of the Jerry Herman/Michael Stewart Hollywood musical, Mack and Mabel, starring Norman Bowman as Mack and Laura Pitt-Pulford (who received rave reviews as Lucille Frank in Parade) as Mabel, directed by Thom Southerland and produced by Danielle Tarento. The show will run for an 8-week season at The Vault at Southwark Playhouse, now through Saturday, August 25. Press night is tomorrow, July 11 at 7.30pm. The Pantages Theatre hosts the touring productions of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES and MEMPHIS this summer 2012.

Rebecca Spencer, who premiered the role of Madame Giry to critical acclaim in Phantom-The Las Vegas Spectacular, will don the black dress again when she joins the world tour of The Phantom of the Opera in August in Manila and early 2013 in Seoul, South Korea. Spencer portrayed Madame Giry for more than two years in Sin City.

Broadway/L.A. has announced that the critically acclaimed production of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, winner of three 2010 Tony Awards®, including Best Revival of a Musical will play the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood for a limited 2 week engagement July 10 - 22, 2012.

Bristol Riverside Theatre presents Say Goodnight Gracie starring Alan Safier in what's being described as 'a one-man tour-de-force performance' as George Burns at Bristol Riverside Theatre on August 3-5. Performances are Friday, August 3 at 3:00 and 8:00 PM, Saturday, August 4 at 2:00 and 8:00 PM, and Sunday, August 5 at 3:00 PM. The creative team behind last summer's sold-out, acclaimed Southwark Playhouse musical, Parade - long-listed for The Ned Sherrin Award for Best Musical in the 2011 Evening Standard Awards - are returning to the venue for a major revival of the Jerry Herman/Michael Stewart Hollywood musical, Mack and Mabel. The show runs tonight, July 5 - August 25.

One of the best things about Harvey Fierstein and Jerry Hermans' La Cage' Aux Folles is that it is a fun show. I was even asked if I had a feather boa to bring with me. Sadly I did not, but that made me more excited to see this Tony winning musical. This incarnation, directed by Noel Ruiz, features a wonderful cast and is showing at CM PAC in Oakdale, Long Island, through July 29th.

A celebration of the life of Tony Award-winning producer and noted director Burry Fredrik (1925-2012) will be hosted by Westport Country Playhouse on Sunday, July 1, 3 p.m. The tribute will be in the campus' Lucille Lortel White Barn Center's Sheffer Rehearsal Studio, 25 Powers Court, Westport, CT. A reception will follow. Fredrik died in her Weston, Connecticut home on May 22 caused by complications from a stroke she suffered over two years ago.

Indhu Rubasingham has announced her inaugural season at The Tricycle, which will launch with the World Premiere of Red Velvet, written by Lolita Chakrabarti with Adrian Lester in the role of Ira Aldridge; followed by The Tricycle's first festive family show, The Arabian Nights, written by Mary Zimmerman and adapted from The Book Of The Thousand Nights and One Night. The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is cutting loose this summer with the dance musical Footloose. The stage production, based on the Paramount Pictures film, opens at the Frederick theatre tonight, June 15th and run through August 25th.
