The 2014 Season marks a landmark for one of the region's most established and respected theatre organizations. With the opening of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic The Sound of Music on January 17, 2014, The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre will kick off its Platinum Anniversary Season, celebrating 20 years of bringing live, first class entertainment to the stage.

Gillian Lynne CBE, 87, has had the title of Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (DBE) conferred upon her in the 2014 New Year's Honours List for her services to Dance and Musical Theatre.

Brilliant Lecture Series will bring Betty Buckley's 'The Vixens of Broadway' to the Wortham Center's Cullen Theater on January 10th. Other events in the series include evenings with Robert Duvall and Diane Keaton.

Hello, Dolly! by Jerry Herman & Michael Stewart will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its Broadway premiere in a production with the St. Petersburg City Theatre, January 17 through February 2, 2014.

Haul out the holly and break out the Christmas decorations! Broadway's award-winning Karen Mason, from the smash hit musicals Mamma Mia, Hairspay!, Sunset Boulevard and most recently Wonderland will make a special return appearance to her hometown with her holiday show "Christmas, Christmas, Christmas." The show will feature a mixture of holiday standards, light seasonal fare to the more traditional Christmas songs performed in Mason's distinctive style that will even put Scrooge in the holiday spirit. This marks Karen's return to her hometown, which began as a holiday tradition when she was a mainstay on the Chicago nightclub circuit in the late 1970's and early 80s with her longtime musical collaborator Brian Lasser, before heading off for stardom in New York and Broadway.

On Thursday, December 18 the Toronto Fringe Hit The Musical of Musicals, the Musical! will open at the Panasonic Theatre as part of Mirvish Production's 50th Anniversary Season. Alan Aronshtam had the opportunity to talk with the cast and creative team back at the 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Royal Alexandra Theatre back in September.

The music of Broadway legendary composers Jule Styne, Jerry Herman and Stephen Sondheim is set for Sunday, 16th February 2014 at 7 p.m. in Guildford.
