The Muny announced today 21 principal cast members for its 99th season. Full company casting will be announced throughout April. The 2017 Muny season opens with Jesus Christ Superstar followed by Disney's The Little Mermaid and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. The season continues with the premiere of All Shook Up! and a newly re- envisioned The Unsinkable Molly Brown. Season 99 closes with A Chorus Line and the much- anticipated Muny debut of Newsies.

The last time comic/actor Mario Cantone ('Sex in the City,' Assassins) and actor, songwriter, and director Jerry Dixon (If/Then, Once on This Island, tick, tick...BOOM!) teamed up, they created Laugh Whore, Cantone's wickedly entertaining and Tony-nominated one-man show-turned-Showtime special.

There's the old adage in any kind of entertainment that if you have a strong finish, the audience can forgive some pitfalls that may have come before. Unfortunately the new work currently playing at Village Theatre has many of those pitfalls (and some good moments too) but they're followed by one of the most egregiously bad, anti-climactic and lackluster endings I think I've ever seen.

Trish Santini, Peter Flynn and Frank Butler announced today the formation of their new company Mainspring Arts Cooperative (MAC), a not-for-profit organization that will produce and present productions that can tour regional theaters nationwide.

Presented at 12th Ave Arts this August, Bonnie & Clyde come back to life in this thrilling musical with music by Frank Wildhorn. This classic tale of passion and crime during the Great Depression is set to a rockabilly, blues and gospel score. Bonnie & Clyde's premiere took place in 2009 at the La Jolla Playhouse, followed by a Broadway opening in 2011. After a short but well-received four week run, the production was nominated for three Outer Critics Circle Awards and five Drama Desk Awards, both including Best New Musical, as well as two nominations for the 2012 Tony® Awards. Performed by an incredibly talented cast of local Seattle actors, this show is a wild ride you won't want to miss.

This week, July 17, marks the 117th birthday of Hollywood legend James Cagney. This very same week, CAGNEY, the new hit musical about James Cagney, plays its 117th performance at The Westside Theatre, upstairs. Among the stars who've recently come out to celebrate Cagney are Mario Cantone (Laugh Whore, 'Sex & the City'), Jerry Dixon (If/Then, Once on this Island), Lorna Luft (Guys & Dolls, Irving Berlin's White Christmas, Grease 2), and Tony Award winner Len Cariou (Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music). The New Group has announced additional guests for post-show talkbacks at The Sensuality Party, with playwrights Thomas Bradshaw (Burning, Intimacy) and Erika Sheffer (Russian Transport) joining in the conversation at Brooklyn College following the 7:00pm performances on May 2 and May 3, respectively, and Wallace Shawn (Aunt Dan and Lemon, The Fever, Marie and Bruce) joining at LaGuardia Community College following the 2:30pm performance on May 11.
