The timeless musical FIDDLER ON THE ROOF has moved audiences to 'happiness and tears' for more than five decades in theatres all over the world. The current production at Casa Mañana seemed to arouse those same emotions in theatregoers on opening weekend, even if this particular production isn't up to Casa's typical standards.

Desert Ensemble Theatre to Host Season Opening Gala SHOWSTOPPERS!

Tickets are now on sale for Desert Ensemble Theatre's 2nd Annual DETC Season Opening Gala. The October 16 event features a pre-show reception at 6pm followed by a 7pm performance of Showstoppers!, a revue of iconic songs from musical theater. The event takes place at the Pearl McManus Theater in the Palm Springs Woman's Club at 314 S. Cahuilla Road. Included are: Clive Owen, Eve Best and Kelly Reilly in Old Times by Harold Pinter, directed by Douglas Hodge; Andrea Martin, Campbell Scott, Tracee Chimo, Daniel Davis, David Furr, Kate Jennings Grant, Megan Hilty, Rob McClure and Jeremy Shamos in Noises Off by Michael Frayn, directed by Jeremy Herrin; The Humans by Stephen Karam, directed by Joe Mantello; Keira Knightley, Gabriel Ebert, Matt Ryan and Judith Light in a new adaptation of Therese Raquin by Helen Edmundson, based upon the novel by Emile Zola, directed by Evan Cabnet; Laura Benanti, Josh Radnor, Rene Auberjonois, Gavin Creel, Michael McGrath and Jane Krakowski in She Loves Me by Joe Masteroff, Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock, directed by Scott Ellis; Jessica Lange, Gabriel Byrne, Michael Shannon and John Gallagher, Jr. in Long Day's Journey Into Night by Eugene O'Neill, directed by Jonathan Kent. The 2015-2016 Roundabout Underground production is Ugly Lies the Bone, a new play by Lindsey Ferrentino, directed by Patricia McGregor.

HELL'S BELLES to Open Off-Broadway at Elektra Theatre Next Month

Tweiss Productions and Nicholas James Opalenik/Event Horizon Productions will present a helluva show in Times Square this October, the original musical Hell's Belles, with book and lyrics by Bryan D. Leys and music by Steve Liebman. Hell's Belles will begin performances at The Elektra Theatre at The Times Square Arts Center (300 West 43rd Street) on October 3, opening October 24 for a limited run through December 27, 2015. The show features direction by John Znidarsic, music direction by Mary Feinsinger, and musical staging by Eugenio Contenti.
