The energy of the evening was high with an array of black theater elite for the Audelco Awards at Symphony Space Theatre in New York City.

Filming has been completed on writer/director Marishka S. Phillips', MELINDA, a suspense-filled short, starring Tony Award winner LaChanze in the title role.

Four cast members from August Wilson's Jitney (the 2017 Tony Winner for Best Revival of a Play) will perform select readings from the show, followed by a Q&A with the audience, at Queens Library on Monday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m.

Sundance Institute's Theatre Lab kicks off today with the announcement of this year's participating acting company and creative advisors. The Lab, which runs through July 30 at the Sundance Resort in Utah, is supervised by Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, and is the centerpiece of the Institute's year-round work with the theatre community. It's one of 24 residency Labs the Institute hosts each year for independent artists in theatre, film, new media and episodic content.

The Playwrights' Center held its 45th Anniversary Gala May 4, 2017 at The Blaisdell in Minneapolis. The Center's Producing Artistic Director Jeremy B. A star-studded line up came out to experience the Billie Holiday Theatre's New York Premiere of Richard Wesley's  AUTUMN   over the weekend. Celebrities included  Denzel Washington,  Alicia Keys,  Spikeand  Tonya Lee,  Ted Lange,  John David Washington   and renowned theater icons, including  Stephen McKinley Henderson,  Woodie King   and  Anthony Chisholm.

On Monday, October 17, at 6:30 PM, the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation will host the Restore Brooklyn Annual Benefit gala, honoring Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy III, Tony Award-winning director Kenny Leon, Jay Walder and Jacqueline Berrien (posthumously).

The Old Globe presents the first offering in the 2016 Summer Shakespeare Festival: William Shakespeare's thrilling classic Macbeth, directed by Brian Kulick, Artistic Director of Classic Stage Company and a leading Shakespearean expert. The so-called 'Scottish Play' runs now through July 24, 2016, in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team of the first offering in the 2016 Summer Shakespeare Festival: William Shakespeare's thrilling classic Macbeth, directed by Brian Kulick, Artistic Director of Classic Stage Company and a leading Shakespearean expert. The so-called "Scottish Play" will run June 19 - July 24, 2016, in the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Previews run June 19 - 24. Opening night is Saturday, June 25 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $29, on sale now to the general public.

 New Neighborhood's new development collaboration with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and Rattlestick West in LA. featured a reading of The Refuge Plays Trilogy: Protect the Beautiful Place, Walking Man, and Early's House, written by Nathan Alan Davis, on February 19, 2016, at the Women's Project Theater at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre in New York. Project Protest: The Art of Revolution, presented by The Center for Arts & Culture at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation (Restoration), takes an unflinching look at how people and communities of African descent have responded to issues of inequality and social injustice through protests. 

'Autumn' is an extraordinary political drama now on the Crossroads Theatre stage through May 3rd. Written by Richard Wesley and directed by Seret Scott, this is a pertinent, must-see theatrical event.

In the fall of 2013, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC & WQXR undertook a historic undertaking: to record -- for the first time -- all 10 plays from August Wilson's lauded American Century Cycle. Those audio recordings, along with exclusive video excerpts and photographs from the readings, are now being made available for online streaming on a time-limited basis here until August 26, 2015.

'Autumn' a World Premiere drama by Richard Wesley will be onstage at Crossroads Theatre Company from April 23rd through May 3rd.

Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival opens its outdoor theatre the weekend of June 13-15 with two Shakespeare productions, Richard III, directed by James Bundy, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by Sarah Rasmussen. Also opening is Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical Into the Woods, directed by Amanda Dehnert. The shows will close the weekend of October 10-12.
