Music permeates Centenary Stage Company's Lackland Center during the month of January with the January THAW Music Festival. Featuring the music of legends and some of New York's hottest artists this year's festival includes; 'Duke Ellington: Composer Beyond Category' by The Duke Ellington Center Big Band under the direction of Mercedes Ellington, the Bria Skonberg Quintet and 'An Oscar Moment' with the Matt Baker Quartet.

The final night of this year's estimable Cabaret Convention, What I Did for Love/Taking a Chance on Love, hosted by Klea Blackhurst, saluted composer/songwriter Vernon Duke in Act I and composer/conductor Marvin Hamlisch during Act II. It was a curious pairing, indeed.

Miss Andrea Bell Wolff, the delightful singer-actress, has appeared in Broadway shows, on Las Vegas stages, on television; she was even the audience warm-up girl for the 'Ed Sullivan Show' in the late 1960's! Miss Bell Wolff has been in real show biz for the past 50 (yes!) years, yet she looks and acts incredibly youthful - and sounds, it, too.

Recently launched by Cafe Carlyle, the Late Night Series expands the storied New York venue's entertainment offerings while making the signature Carlyle experience-exceptional artists in a singularly intimate and elegant setting-more accessible. The new Billie Holiday musical Lady Day starring Tony and multiple Grammy Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater, opened last week at the Little Shubert Theatre (422 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues). Written and directed by Stephen Stahl, the musical makes its New York debut having been produced at the Theatre de Boulogne-Billancourt and Theatre du GymnaseMarie Bell in Paris as well as The Donmar Warehouse and The Piccadilly Theatre in London, where it received critical praise and garnered an Olivier 'Best Actress in a Musical' Award nomination for Ms. Bridgewater.
