The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Australian jazz pianist Matt Baker, who performed Remembering Oscar: A Tribute with "The Personal Touch" at the historic club on Monday, June 8. Scroll down for photos from the concert!
The concert showcased Baker's interpretations of Oscar Peterson's greatest work, celebrating his life, greatest hits, and some of his beautiful original compositions. Baker also performed some of his own work, paying homage to the legend who inspired him his whole life. Peterson and Baker met in 2002 at the Blue Note in NYC, which was the start of a friendship and mentorship that lasted until Peterson''s death in 2007.
In the Birdland outing, Jim Cammack performed on bass, Jerome Jennings on drums, and the Special Guest Vocalist was Brianna Thomas.
