Baryshnikov Arts Center to Continue Anniversary Season with Three Concerts

New York, NY – The Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) continues its 10th anniversary celebratory season with three concerts in April, reflecting BAC's expanded series of music programming for 2015. The weeklong celebration begins Monday, April 6 at 7:30pm, with one of BAC's signature events – a BAC Salon – in the Howard Gilman Performance Space, featuring the chamber music of Berio, Cage, and Mozart in an intimate salon setting. On Wednesday, April 8 at 7:30pm, composer and jazz pianist Stephen Prutsman will perform the entirety of his album Passengers for the first time ever, in another BAC Salon in the Howard Gilman Performance Space. The final performance of the week, on Saturday, April 11 at 8pm in the Jerome Robbins Theater, features the Latvian National Choir, hailing from BAC Artistic Director Mikhail Baryshnikov's birthplace of Riga and bringing to New York a program that includes music by Arvo Pärt, Grammy nominee Ugis Praulins, and the U.S. premieres of works by acclaimed Latvian composers Jekabs Janchevskis, Gundega Smite, and Raimonds Tiguls. The Latvian National Choir last appeared in New York as part of the 2010 White Light Festival at Lincoln Center, in performances The New York Times described as “ravishing.”

Carmen de Lavallade's AS I REMEMBER IT Runs Now thru 2/25 at Baryshnikov Arts Center

As part its 10th Anniversary Spring 2015 season, Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) proudly presents the New York Premiere of Carmen de Lavallade's As I Remember It, February 19-21 and 24 at 8PM, and February 25 at 1PM in the Jerome Robbins Theater. This intimate autobiographical performance combines movement and storytelling to weave a poignant memoir of Carmen de Lavallade's extraordinary career, highlighting the legendary artist's singular place in cultural history.

BEGINAGAIN, St. Lawrence String Quartet, AS I REMEMBER IT and More Set for BAC's Spring 2015 Season

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2015, beginning with the spring season performance and residency series running January 14 to June 28. Programs at BAC throughout 2015 will exemplify the kind of creative engagement for which BAC has earned recognition during the last decade: presenting and nurturing artists from around the world, at varying stages in their careers, and who are working innovatively across disciplines.

The Second City has announced the opening of The Second City's 102nd Revue, 'Depraved New World.' Reviewing press are invited to attend on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. at The Second City Mainstage Theatre (1616 N. Wells St). A Grand Opening is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 8:00 p.m.

Photo Flash: Former Giants Players Surprise East Orange Guidance Counselor with Super Bowl Tickets

Former Giants and Pro Bowlers Jessie Armstead and Antonio Pierce recently surprised Super Bowl Ticket contest winner and guidance counselor at Benjamin Beneker School in East Orange, Richard Greene. Armstead and Pierce, who co-own Englewood Cliffs Cadillac alongside automotive veteran Mike Saporito, launched the promotion in the fall giving away a pair of tickets to the Super Bowl XLVIII to be held on February 2, 2014 at Metlife Stadium. The promotion was opened to the general public via the Englewood Cliffs Cadillac Website and the winner, Richard Greene, was selected by random drawing.
