Piven Theatre Workshop announced today that Jennifer Sultz has resigned her position as Executive Director. Having given her notice to the Board of Directors in January, Sultz will conclude her 15 year tenure on June 30, 2010.

Piven Theatre Workshop closes its 2009-10 season with the Chicago premiere of Late: A Cowboy Song, written by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Jessica Thebus and featuring Polly Noonan. All proceeds from RIPPED benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The one-night-only performance is Monday, May 10, 2010 at Piven Theatre Workshop, 927 Noyes Street.

Raul Esparza will be appearing in the Center Theatre Group's production of Leap of Faith, which Esparza participated in a reading for in the past. The world-premiere will take place Sept. 5-Oct. 17. With music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater, Leap of Faith is based on the Steve Martin film of the same title. Tony award-winner Rob Ashford will be directing and choeographing.

The hour long program will feature speeches by Rabbi Josh Feigelson, Campus Rabbi & Senior Director Fiedler Hillel at Northwestern University, and Fr. John Karjte, Chaplain and Director of the Sheil Catholic Center at Northwestern University; a special performance of 'Raining Season' by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Teen Committee on Conscience; and Hannah Senesch's song 'Eili, Eili' led by David Y. Chack, President of the Association for Jewish Theatre.

According to a report in Variety, Showtime has picked up 'Shameless' starring William H. Macy for a 12-episode season. The show comes from Warner Bros. TV and John Wells Productions.

To date, she hasn't made any comment about her sudden exodus.
