Long Beach Opera Announces Cancellations and Postponements

For the safety of patrons and artists, Long Beach Opera has cancelled two of its 2020 productions -- Billy the Kid (May 3-10) and Frida (June 20-28).

Long Beach Opera announces Yuval Sharon will serve as the company's Interim Artistic Advisor, who will work together with LBO leadership to plan LBO's 2021 season. Sharon will curate the 2021 season, including selecting the operas, productions, and artistic teams. He will also participate as director for one of the season productions.

Andreas Mitisek To Departs Long Beach Opera In September 2020

Andreas Mitisek announced that he will depart from his position as Long Beach Opera (LBO) Artistic and General Director in September 2020, following LBO's 2020 season.  Mitisek informed the board of his decision not to renew his contract at a board meeting on June 29.

Bridge Street Theatre to Host Catskill High Peaks Festival's MUSIC FROM HIGH PEAKS

Renowned faculty and international rising young artists from the Catskill High Peaks Festival fill Bridge Street Theatre's newly refurbished performance space with an exuberant display of virtuosity and talent. Various chamber music combinations and crossover repertoire include cello chorus, solo and duo piano, quartets, sextets, and the High Peaks Chamber orchestra in works by J. S. Bach, Grieg, Chopin, Dvorak, Gershwin and more. The performance occurs on Friday August 12 at 7:00pm in the theatre, located at 44 West Bridge Street in Catskill, NY.

Odyssey Opera to Host 3rd Annual Festival, 6/3-12

Odyssey Opera presents WHEN IN ROME, its third annual opera festival comprising fully staged productions of Christoph Willibald Gluck's Ezio and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Lucio Silla from June 3-12 at the Boston University Theatre. Ezio and Lucio Silla are both composed in the grand tradition of opera seria, with plots revolving around the timeless themes of honor, betrayal, and passion revealed in soul-baring arias. Both operas take place in Ancient Rome and are based on historical generals or dictators. Led by conductor Gil Rose, the Odyssey Opera Orchestra is joined by some of the nation's most extraordinary opera singers, including mezzo- sopranos Brenda Patterson and Jennifer Rivera, and countertenors Michael Maniaci and David Trudgen.
