Cherry Lane Theatre's award-winning MENTOR PROJECT for emerging playwrights will present its 16th season from February 19 to April 12, 2014 with expanded programming - the addition of a new Director Mentorship -- it has been announced by Angelina Fiordellisi, Founding Artistic Director of Cherry Lane Theatre and co-founder of MENTOR PROJECT. Cherry Lane Theatre is located at 38 Commerce Street in Greenwich Village.

Naked Angels announced that Naked Radio Live, the company's annual holiday bash version of its popular Naked Radio podcast series, will be held Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 7:30 pm at The New School for Drama Theater (151 Bank Street, 3rd Floor, just west of Washington Street).

The Playwrights Realm has selected four early-career playwrights for its 2013-14 Writing Fellows program: Elizabeth Irwin, Lila Rose Kaplan, Jason Gray Platt, and Amelia Roper.

Ars Nova presents, as part of the Out Loud series, a FREE reading of LIQUIDATION PLAY by Sarah Burgess, directed by Mike Donahue. The cast includes Dylan Baker, Mike DiSalvo, Jessica Love and Ben Rappaport.

Sundance Institute today announced the seven artists selected for its 2014 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation. The 15th annual writing colony at the 20,000-acre working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, WY takes place February 3-21. Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the Playwrights Retreat is made possible through the generosity of Ucross Foundation.

On Sunday, September 22 New Georges held their BIG Benefit at Seamen's House, a private townhouse in Chelsea. The fundraiser featured a special performance by Eisa Davis and short plays and songs written specifically for the event by Laura Eason, Boo Killebrew, Julie Kramer, Rachel Peters and Charise Castro Smith, featuring Heidi Schreck, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Amy Wilson, Stephanie Wright Thompson, Eric Clem and others. At a benefit event held for New Georges on Sunday, September 22, Producing Artistic Director Susan Bernfield and board member Michael Osso announced a new program at New Georges, The Audrey Residencies, and the artists and projects chosen for 2013-14, the program's inaugural year. Sunday's event also featured the premiere showing of a video about New Georges produced by tdf for tdfSTAGES' Meet the Theatre series and directed by Mark Blankenship, tdf's online content editor, to be released in early November.

The evening will include the presentation to the playwright of the David Charles Horn Prize, a cash award of $10,000, and a staged reading of Still, directed by Kate Whoriskey, featuring Jeanine Seralles, Chris Grant, Birgit Huppuch and Elvy Yorst.

terraNOVA Collective and Producing Artistic Director, Jennifer Conley Darling have announced the 11th Season promoting distinct and powerful voices. The Season will include World Premiere and New York Premiere productions and commences in September, at IRT Theater, with the launch of soloNOVA Arts presenting WILL WORK FOR, Dacyl Acevedo's one-woman tour-de-force which premiered in last season's soloNOVA Festival and SEXLESS IN THE BOROUGHS by Colleen O'Connor, a co-production with The Glass Eye led by Kyle Metzger and Jared Weber. The Hatmaker's Wife is directed by recent OBIE Award winner Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812) and will open tonight, September 5.

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) will begin accepting applications for Uncharted, it's newly expanded program for burgeoning musical theater writers, on September 3. The Uncharted program, initially co-conceived with Ars Nova's first Composer-in-Residence Andrew Lippa, has grown this year to include two-year residencies in a writers group designed to support the development of first drafts of new musicals. The Uncharted writers group brings together four writing teams for monthly meetings, providing them with peer and artistic support as they work on new pieces. First year group members will also receive public concerts produced by Ars Nova as a chance to debut their new material in front of a live audience. During the second year of the residency, the writers will receive weeklong workshops of their musicals, culminating in full public readings.
