Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (“The Wallis”) presents DanceBrazil (Jelon Vieira, Artistic Director) for three performances only, February 6-7, 2015 in the Bram Goldsmith Theater. The program includes the West Coast premieres of Gueto, choreographed by Vieira to music of Marcos Carvalho, and Búzios, choreographed by Guilherme Durarte to music of Leo Jesus. The program also features Vieira's 2013 Fé do Sertão, also set to music by Carvalho. The company will also conduct masterclasses in Afro-Brazilian movement (February 5) and Capoeira (February 7).

Following last year's acclaimed Public Works production of The Tempest, The Public Theater will continue this community-based initiative this September with a free original musical adaptation of Shakespeare's THE WINTER'S TALE. Featuring more than 200 New Yorkers from all five boroughs performing alongside professional actors and The Public's community partners, Public Works' THE WINTER'S TALE will run for three nights only, September 5-7, at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Free tickets will be distributed, two per person, at 12:00 p.m. on the day of the show at the Delacorte Theater and via the Virtual Ticketing lottery at www.publictheater.org.

Festival of Brazilian Dance Set for The Joyce Theater, 2/24-3/1

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. will present a three week showcase of Brazilian dance from February 26 - March 16. Three Brazilian-based companies will be making their Joyce Theater debuts during the festival: Mimulus Companhia de Danca (Belo Horizonte) from February 24-March 1; Companhia Urbana de Danca (Rio de Janeiro) from March 3-6, a co-presentation with 651 ARTS; and Focus Cia de Danca (Rio de Janeiro) from March 8-10. These acclaimed companies will be joined by audience favorite DanceBrazil, closing out the festival from March 12-16. Tickets for all companies range in price from $10 to $49 ($26 to $37 for Joyce Members) and can be purchased through JoyceCharge at www.Joyce.org, or by calling 212-242-0800. The Festival will continue at City Center from September 25 - October 5 with performances by 20 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world, including three new works from today's most exciting young choreographers, commissioned by New York City Center in celebration of the tenth anniversary.
