Signature Theatre pulls some of DC's brightest stars into the spirit of the holidays with this year's original production of Holiday Follies. The popular series, now in its third season, will feature performers Bobby Smith (See What I Wanna See, Show Boat), Eleasha Gamble (Chess, Les Miserables), James Gardiner (The Boy Detective Fails, [title of show]), and Rachel Zampelli (Dying City, Brother Russia), under the direction of Walter Ware III. With a cabaret set list built to change from night to night, Signature's forecast calls for a special week of wintry mix.

York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) presents Broadway's Marc Kudisch (9 to 5; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) and Jeffry Denman (Irving Berlin's White Christmas; Yank! at the York) in the Off-Broadway premiere of a new holiday variety entertainment, The Holiday Guys in Happy Merry Hanu-Mas, under the music direction of Timothy Splain, for a limited two week engagement, December 18 - 31, 2012 at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

Producer Scott Siegel announced this morning that tickets will be go on sale today at noon via TicketMaster for the 9th Annual BROADWAY UNPLUGGED concert in which today's Broadway stars sing like the stars of yesteryear: without microphones! Unplugged! In this age of head-splitting, over-amplifcation the sound of the pure human voice soaring through the orchestra and then sailing up into the balcony of an acoustically pure concert hall is to hear Broadway show music at its most thrilling. This year's cast is headed by two of Broadway's most in-demand stars, CHEYENNE JACKSON and LAURA OSNES. They will lead a cast of upwards of twenty sensational singing stars on Monday, December 3rd at 8 PM at The Town Hall.

The first 11 o'clock number of the evening came at around 8:05, when Marc Kudisch opened Town Hall's The Best of Broadway By The Year concert by caressing Lerner and Loewe's “If Ever I Would Leave You” with his rich, dramatic baritone and superlative musical acting skills.  It was a very appropriate opening since Kudisch, a regular participant throughout the concert series' twelve-season history, very much represents what these evenings have evolved into; a look at what Broadway could be in a commercially different environment.

92nd Street Y announces casting for the 2013 season of Lyrics & Lyricists™. Jason Danieley, Rebecca Luker, Barbara Carroll and James Naughton are among the performers from the worlds of Broadway, jazz and cabaret presenting a panoramic journey through the American Songbook via New York, London, Hollywood, and Stratford-on-Avon. L&L's shows this season explore Shakespeare on Broadway, iconic singer/lyricist Peggy Lee, a fresh take on Jerome Kern, and our look at Vernon Duke's and W. S. Gilbert's influence on Broadway. The season is curated by series artistic director Deborah Grace Winer (also returning as artistic director for one of the shows), and a line-up of guest artistic directors - Rob Fisher (with host Sheldon Harnick), Billy Stritch, David Loud and Mark Lamos.

The Broadway Cabaret Festival begins tonight, October 13th at 8pm with Linda Eder: A New Life, and continues on Sunday, October 21st at 3pm with Broadway Originals!. On October 1, 2012, stars of Broadway will lend their talents to a Star Party fundraiser in support of National Dance Institute (NDI), a non-profit arts education organization founded by ballet star Jacques d'Amboise.

Broadway stars Marc Kudisch and Jeffry Denman, the self-proclaimed Holiday Guys, are in the studio this week to record their acclaimed Happy Merry Hanu-Mas show. The album will be released by Yellow Sound Label later this year.
