The York Theatre Company will welcome cast members of the original Off-Broadway production of the critically acclaimed musical, Yank!, with book & lyrics by David Zellnik and music by Joe Zellnik, to celebrate the official release of the cast recording on Monday evening, February 24 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The celebration will be held on stage at The York Theatre, where Yank! received its world premiere and played a sold-out engagement in Spring 2010.
On Saturday evening, March 1st at 7:30pm Pace University will present American Showstoppers, with the 13 piece Fred Barton Orchestra, AN EVENING OF JERRY HERMAN. The evening is directed and choreographed by Scott Thompson and produced, orchestrated and hosted by Fred Barton.
This March, Lincoln Center presents American Songbook with 'Jim Caruso's Cast Party Goes to the Movies!', Great Performers concerts by pianist Murray Perahia, the Los Angeles Philharmonic led by Gustavo Dudamel, and the Emerson String Quartet, plus Target Free Thursdays and Meet the Artist Saturdays. Despite its location far, far north, and its relatively sparse population compared to cultural capitals, Maine boasts a rich regional theatre climate. There are quite a few thriving, adventurous, permanent professional companies, as well as an excellent contingent of community theatres. This year offered a wealth of exciting choices. Now in its 16th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook will continue to expand its scope celebrating the best in American singing and songwriting. New this year, the opening night concert will befree, in the David Rubenstein Atrium, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. 'Live From Lincoln Center,' the Emmy Award-winning program broadcast nationally on PBS stations, will shoot four of the first week's American Songbook concerts in The Allen Room: by James Naughton, Lawrence Brownlee, Jason Isbell, and Patina Miller. These performances will be broadcast nationally beginning in Spring 2014. In addition, American Songbook concerts taking place in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center will be live-streamed via http://watch.lincolncenter.org.
