The Acting Company's 42nd Season to Feature MACBETH, 'A CONNECTICUT YANKEE'

'Our newly commissioned adaptation of Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Jeffrey Hatcher (Tuesdays with Morrie, Columbo) will have its world premiere mid-February at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis prior to our 42nd national tour,' announced The Acting Company's producer and co-founder, Margot Harley. 'Connecticut Yankee will tour to 14 states running in repertory with a new production of William Shakespeare's Macbeth, stopping in New York for two weeks at Off-Broadway's Pearl Theater April 1-12. This is our seventh tour in association with the Guthrie.'

Spinning Tree Theatre in Kansas City announced their 2015-2016 season schedule, which includes two plays and two musicals. The season will premiere Spinning Trees first dance musical. Venues and dates for the 2015-2016 season are to be announced later. The production company is currently searching for a permanent home, after four years of renting venues in the Kansas City area.

The Guthrie Theater and The Acting Company (TAC) reunite for a seventh year to present A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court - a satirical story adapted by acclaimed local playwright Jeffrey Hatcher from the novel by Mark Twain - in repertory with Macbeth, Shakespeare's dark and powerful tragedy.

Carthage College, a four-year, private college of the liberal arts and sciences in Kenosha, Wisconsin, will stage the world premiere of 'Up The Hill', a new work by Keith Huff, one of the television industry's most sought-after writers and producers, and one of contemporary theater's most prominent and exciting playwrights. The play will be performed Feb. 27 - March 7 at the Wartburg Auditorium in the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Natural and Social Sciences, 2001 Alford Park Drive.

Houston Grand Opera Releases Schedule of Events for 2015-16 Season

Houston, January 29, 2015-Houston Grand Opera's (HGO) 2015-16 season showcases the vibrant and diverse artistic mix that marks HGO as a leading 21st-century American opera company: Wagner's Siegfried, the third installment of La Fura dels Baus's imaginative Ring cycle featuring a new generation of Wagnerians; the world premiere of Carlisle Floyd's Prince of Players; Dvo?ak's fairy tale rarity Rusalka; a holiday revival of family favorite The Little Prince from the award-winning composer Rachel Portman and librettist Nicholas Wright; a new production of The Marriage of Figaro and a new-to-Houston Eugene Onegin; a beloved core production, Tosca; and the Houston debut of Broadway sensation Rob Ashford's take on the classic musical Carousel. Through its community collaboration program HGOco, the company will present two additional world premieres: O Columbia, a chamber opera by composer Gregory Spears and librettist Royce Vavrek that examines the past, present, and future of the American spirit of exploration; and another chamber opera, by composer David Hanlon and librettist Stephanie Fleischmann, about the impact of hurricanes on the Texas Gulf coast.

CATF's Managing Director James McNeel to Depart

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University (CATF) has announced that its Managing Director, James McNeel, has accepted the same position at City Theatre Company in Pittsburgh, PA. McNeel, who has been in this role for the last four seasons, will officially close his tenure on December 12th. The Theater Festival is currently in the process of hiring his replacement.

Written by Frederick Knott, newly adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, and directed by Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) Artistic Director David Ira Goldstein, Wait Until Dark comes to the Herberger Theater Center, tonight, Nov. 13-30.

Lisa Harrow to Direct Portland Shakespeare Project's TWELFTH NIGHT Next Summer; 2015 Season Set

Portland Shakespeare Project (PSP) announces Lisa Harrow will direct the summer mainstage production of Twelfth Night, along with an expanded 2015 season. The company's fifth season will include three additional shows in 2015. On March 9, PSP will hold a fundraising performance featuring Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Robin Nordli's one-person show Virgins to Villains. In repertory with Twelfth Night, a yet-to-be announced staged reading will accompany the mainstage summer production. In October, PSP will present Jeffrey Hatcher's adaptation of Henry James's The Turn of the Screw, October 15 through November 1.Tickets for all four shows will go on sale January 5, 2015.

Karen Carpenter Directs HANDLE WITH CARE at the Colony Theatre, Now thru 12/14

The Colony Theatre will present the third production of its historic 40thAnniversary season, the West Coast Premiere of HANDLE WITH CARE by Jason Odell Williams, directed by Karen Carpenter. HANDLE WITH CARE will preview tonight, November 5; Thursday, November 6; and Friday, November 7 at 8:00pm. It will open on Saturday, November 8 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, December 14, with no performances Thanksgiving week.
