A strikingly original black comedy by Academy Award-winning, Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated playwright Martin McDonagh, 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' is set in 1993 on a rocky island in County Galway.

The world premiere of Andrew Hinderaker's SUICIDE, INCORPORATED, directed by Jonathan Berry, featuring Gift Artistic Director and ABC's Private Practice's Michael Patrick Thornton, will run June 10th-July 25th with a special 'Come Closer' Performance on Sunday July 18th. A Noise Within (ANW) concludes its 2009-10 season with celebrated Irish playwright JOHN MILLINGTON SYNGE's THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD directed by Co-Founder/Co-Artistic Director Geoff Elliott, which opens Saturday, April 17 and closes Saturday, May 22, 2010 (previews begin Saturday, April 10). The once controversial play - which sparked riots during and after its debut in Dublin in 1907, was booed in New York four years later, and resulted in the arrest of the Philadelphia cast on charges of staging an immoral performance - has since been recognized as a masterpiece.

More than 600 guests attended Steppenwolf's Theatre Company's GALA 2010 on Saturday, May 8, 2010 - raising over $1 million for Steppenwolf's artistic and community programming.

The Steppenwolf Theatre Company Ensemble is pleased to announce its newest member, playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney. Among his many accomplishments, McCraney is the author of the critically-acclaimed The Brother/Sister Plays, currently playing at Steppenwolf through May 23, 2010. As a playwright, he has collaborated with Steppenwolf ensemble member Tina Landau on seven productions and readings nationally. He also appeared on stage at Steppenwolf in Landau's 2004 production of Theatrical Essays. Additionally, McCraney was recently commissioned by Steppenwolf, through support from the Joyce Foundation Awards, to write a new play for the Steppenwolf ensemble based on the biblical book of Job. The Steppenwolf ensemble, the longest-existing theater ensemble in the U.S., now totals 43 members.
