MEET THE COMPANY Next Up in Buddies in Bad Times Theatre's 'Intimate Experiences' Cabaret Series, 9/21

Series Director, Bruce Dow (Dora Award Winner for PIG, and Of A Monstrous Child, Helen Hayes Nominee for his work with the Tony-winning Shakespeare Theatre Company, Washington, D.C., 4 season Broadway and 12 season Stratford Festival veteran); Associate Series Director, Jeff Madden (Dora Award Winner for JERSEY BOYS, JERSEY BOYS Toronto and Australia, and 8 season veteran of The Shaw Festival); and Musical Director, Mark Selby (producer, AIR FARCE NEW YEAR'S EVE, CBC) have selected 5 recent theatre school graduates for the creation of a series of unique cabaret evenings to run through the fall and winter at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre.

Two-time Dora Award Winner, Toronto Theatre Critics Award Winner, and Helen Hayes Award Nominee, Broadway and Stratford Festival veteran, Bruce Dow, will offer Toronto audiences two nights of his solo cabaret SOMETHING TO SAY with pianist, Adam White - at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, September 6 & 7, 7:30 pm.

The graduating students of Toronto's Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts, Canada's premiere Triple Threat post- secondary training program, appearing in the academy's production of Stephen Sondheim's 'Into the Woods' received quite a surprise Friday night . Among backstage visitors congratulating them was David Krane, the music arranger of Disney's forthcoming musical adaptation starring Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp.

Toronto's musical theatre fans awaiting the Christmas release of Disney's Into the Woods will be able to get a summertime fairy tale fix with the Randolph Academy's production of the Stephen Sondheim musical. The Academy's 2014 graduating class presents Into the Woods, directed and choreographed by Timothy French, from tonight, July 31 to August 9, 2014 at the Randolph Theatre.

It was an incredible night for Toronto theatre when our community joined together to celebrate another year of performing arts in Toronto on the evening of June 23rd at the WestJet Stage at the Harbourfront Centre for the 35th Annual Dora Awards! For the 2013-2014 season, 143 producing companies (up 41 from last season's 102) registered eligible productions. A total of 48 Dora Awards, plus the Silver Ticket Award and the Audience Choice Award, were given out in a glittering ceremony hosted by Matt Baram and Naomi Snieckus, founding Co-Artistic Directors of the three-time Canadian Comedy Award-winning The National Theatre of the World.

BWW Interviews: Jeni Walls and Gabi Epstein talk LIZA & BARBRA

This Saturday, Angelwalk Theatre is hosting a special fundraising event featuring two of the greatest female musical theatre darlings in the city - Gabi Epstein and Jeni Walls. Liza & Barbra...Together at Last will feature Jeni as Liza and Gabi as Barbra, performing classic numbers of two of the stage's biggest stars. They will be backed by a live orchestra featuring new arrangements by music director and conductor Donavon LeNabat. And for the Jersey Boys fans among us, there will be a special guest appearance by our own Frankie Valli - Jeff Madden! The fundraiser is to support Angelwalk's fifth anniversary season, celebrating their mission to produce off-Broadway style musical theatre in Toronto. There will be a silent auction, raffles and prizes. Best of all? Great music that everyone will know and love! BWW sat down to chat with both ladies about this unique concert, about their love of Liza and Barbra and about what people can expect from this exciting night of musical theatre powerhouses:

BWW Toronto Welcomes Jeff Madden to the Team

BWW Toronto is thrilled to announce the newest addition to the Toronto team - Jeff Madden! Jeff gained notoriety in Toronto when he played Frankie Valli in the original Canadian production of Jersey Boys, and now he's going to bring his unique point of view and acting background to BWW by writing special features and doing one-on-one interviews with local actors. Welcome aboard Jeff!

Bloodless: The Trial of Burke and Hare is the first offering from Theatre 20, a brand new Canadian theatre company with a goal to foster the development of new Canadian musicals. Written by Winnipeg playwright Joseph Aragon, the show tells the true story of the West Port murders in Edinburgh in 1829. With a solid cast and some great original music, the show is a brave first choice for Theatre 20.

JERSEY BOY Michael Lomenda Talks Touring, Subway Compliments, and Playing the Off-Center Nick Massi

JERSEY BOY Michael Lomenda has called Chicago his touring-home for just over a month, but the closest Starbucks to The Bank of America Theater, where the first national touring cast of Jersey Boys is currently playing its 9 week run, has rooted itself firmly in his routine. He also calls a brownstone with fellow cast members in Wrigleyville his place of residence, has mastered the el (and gotten plenty of compliments while doing so), and taken in the city's architectural feats on boat tours.

On Monday night the Harold Green Jewish Theatre held their annual fundraiser, bringing some of the city's top talents together under one roof to raise awareness and funds for the company. The event took a slightly different format this year, with the evening being split into two categories - music and laughter. The first half of the evening featured musical performances from a diverse range of local talent, and the second act featured improve comedy and The National Theatre of the World.
