The Color Purple made an estimated $4.8 million from 3,218 theaters in the United States and Canada this weekend. This puts the film in seventh place at the box office, behind George Clooney’s “The Boys in the Boat,' which is open at only 2,687 theaters.

On the heels of the successful world premiere of Bruce Springsteen's “Western Stars” at the Toronto International Film Festival, Fathom Events announces that it will bring music legend Bruce Springsteen to cinemas across America in an exclusive two-night theatrical release of “Western Stars.” The Fathom screenings, which will be held on October 19 and 23, will also feature an exclusive look behind the scenes with Springsteen, including never-before-seen archival footage and previously unreleased music from the Springsteen vault.

Netflix Acquires Global Rights to THE LEGEND OF COCAINE ISLAND

Netflix has announced that they have acquired the global rights to director Theo Love's documentary feature, The Legend of Cocaine Island. The film, previously titled White Tide: The Legend of Culebra, premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival where it was enthusiastically embraced by audiences and critics who referred to the film as one of the most compulsively watchable documentaries in years.
