Simon Dodd's PLAYTHING Comes to The Depot Theatre Tonight

After a highly acclaimed but brief outing at the 2014 Sydney Comedy Festival, absurdist one-act comedy PLAYTHING by multi-awarding winning Australian comedy writer Simon Dodd comes to The Depot Theatre in Marrickville as part of their 2016 Season.

After a highly acclaimed but brief outing at the 2014 Sydney Comedy Festival, absurdist one-act comedy PLAYTHING by multi-awarding winning Australian comedy writer Simon Dodd comes to The Depot Theatre in Marrickville as part of their 2016 Season.

Danny Lee Wynter, Tom Varey & Joseph Quinn Lead Jean Genet's DEATHWATCH at the Print Room

The full cast is announced for the final production in the Coronet's spring season, DEATHWATCH, from April 11 to May 7. This new Print Room production of Jean Genet's powerful and provocative first play, in a translation by David Rudkin, marks its first major revival in almost 30 years. Deathwatch stars Danny Lee Wynter, Joseph Quinn, Tom Varey and Emma Naomi, and is directed by Geraldine Alexander, who received critical acclaim for the direction of her own play, Amygdala, at The Print Room's former space in 2013. The Coronet is also working with playwright David Rudkin on complementary activity around the production.

The Jamie Lloyd Company's first production of 2016 is the full-throttle UK premiere of a contemporary adaptation of Jean Genet's masterpiece, THE MAIDS - not seen in the West End for 20 years. Director Jamie Lloyd has assembled a powerhouse trio of actors, including double Emmy Award-winning Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black), Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat) and Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey), to tackle this explosive psycho-drama. The Maids, Trafalgar Studios Jamie Lloyd has enlisted a cracking trio of actresses to take on this contemporary adaptation of Jean Genet's psychological thriller. Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black), Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat) and Laura Carmichael (Dowton Abbey) join forces to explore sex, murder and class.

The New School's College of Performing Arts Sets Winter, Spring Programming

The New School's newly formed College of Performing Arts, led by"firebrand" (New York Times) Executive Dean Richard Kessler, is pleased to announce winter-spring public programming highlights for the College's three schools: Mannes School of Music, The School of Jazz and The School of Drama. Performances will take place at the College's new performing arts hub-designed by Deborah Berke Partners at Arnhold Hall (55 West 13th Street)-as well as at The New School's Tishman Auditorium at University Center (63 Fifth Avenue), The Theater at the School of Drama (151 Bank Street) and venues throughout the city. Kit Harington to Lead DOCTOR FAUSTUS in the West End; Jamie Lloyd to Direct

Kit Harington will return to the London stage to play the title role in an anarchic production of Doctor Faustus at the Duke of York's Theatre, London, from 9th April 2016. Directed by Jamie Lloyd, Christopher Marlowe's masterwork, with two acts by Colin Teevan, will preview from Monday 9th April 2016, booking until Saturday 4th June.

Jobsite Replaces ANTONY & CLEOPATRA with Genet's THE MAIDS This Spring

Jobsite Theater is making a substitution within the 2015-16 season, replacing Shakespeare's ANTONY & CLEOPATRA with another classic in Jean Genet's unequivocally literate 1947 play THE MAIDS. This production runs the same dates scheduled for A&C, April 29 - May 22, 2016, in the Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center where Jobsite is resident theater company.

LaGuardia Performing Arts Center (LPAC), an emerging destination for international work-work that reflects the issues confronting its uniquely diverse Queens location-is pleased to present the world premiere of Privatopia, written by acclaimed Greek playwright Maria Efstathiadi and directed by Handan Ozbilgin,LPAC'S Assistant Artistic Director. Privatopia sheds light on the increasing fear of 'otherness' rampant in modern societies. A mixed cast of immigrants and refugees, including five LaGuardia Community College students, will perform the work, which mark's the playwright's U.S. debut, tonight, November 5, through November 14.

Experiments in Opera -- the composer-driven collective with an air of mad scientists in the lab -- opens its 2015-16 season with the premiere of 11 new commissions for ensemble and voice in The Travel Agency is On Fire: Burroughs Cuts Up the Great Bards, presented Today, October 16, 2015 at the East Village avant-garde haven The Stone. Two sets take place at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Each set features different songs.
