If this Jamie deRoy 25th Anniversary Show was competing against some of those great Ed Sullivan variety episodes it would have been no contest.  First of all, Jamie knows how to give an introduction, is an entertainer herself, and the best in entertainment business sign up to be in a Jamie deRoy & friends show . The Actors Fund presented this 40th annual 30th Jamie Birthday show and it was truly a spectacular event with some of the most talented performers on the stage at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at the john Jay College of Criminal Justice.  The only crime last night was that the event wasn't televised live but I'm sure excerpts will be available on Jamie's cable TV show and through the facilities of The Actors Fund.

Part "memory play"/ part tribute to Ella, me & ella is both a singer's coming of age story as well as a musical valentine to the First Lady of Song. Directed by Paul Kreppel and Murphy Cross, winners of the Tony Award for JAY JOHNSON: THE TWO AND ONLY, and featuring Andrea Frierson who was a finalist in Star Search and has appeared on Broadway in THE LION KING, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and others, me & ella takes the stage at Downstairs Cabaret at Winton Place, 3450 Winton Place, Brighton-Henrietta, beginning February 6. This limited engagement will continue through the month of February, in celebration of Black History Month. More than two dozen jazz favorites are woven into this heartwarming story, including 'The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea,' 'I'm Beginning to See the Light,' 'A Tisket, A Tasket,' 'Lady Be Good,' 'How High The Moon,' 'I've Got the World on a String,' and many more. The production features a jazz trio of Jeff Benatar on piano, Eric Davidson on bass, and Greg Gascon on percussion.

Celebrated producer and cabaret performer Jamie deRoy will be hosting a special edition of her multi-MAC Award-winning Variety Show, Jamie deRoy & Friends, on Monday, January 27 at 7pm at Birdland. Jamie's special guests will be Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone), Kevin Meaney (Hairspray), singer-songwriter Dee Snider, known worldwide as the frontman for Twisted Sister, and Lauren Worsham, who is currently starring in A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder.

It takes a much more educated hand to mystify or entertain a crowd than it did on the Vaudeville stages of early America and the founder of the Magic Castle, Milt Larsen, along with veteran producer, Terry Hill, have been offering audiences that little something new and exciting every year for 56 years with their annual production of 'It's Magic!' The program held at the Thousand Oaks Civic Center Plaza, under the direction of Dale Hindman and hosted by Tony Award winner, Jay Johnson, last Saturday night did not disappoint. The scheduled performers included a veteran line up of illustrious illusionists such as Christopher Hart, Adam Trent, Rick Thomas and Magic Castle co-founder, Milt Larsen, as well as the close up talents of Rich Manley in the lobby during the shows intermission. Due to a new filming conflict, Michael Carbonaro, has had to step down from the role of host for the annual 'It's Magic!' show. However, Producers Milt Larsen and Terry Hill are very fortunate to have been able to secure Tony Award winning ventriloquist Jay Johnson as his replacement to perform in and host the show.
